The Stingray Review
Seaside Elementary
Dear Seaside Families,
It looks like the weather around the Grand Strand will be a lot warmer than it has been. With that said, please have a great weekend with your family and friends. I hope that you will be able to be outside and enjoy the warm weather. Hopefully it will stay warm too! I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day as it is coming up on Wednesday, February 14. We absolutely love all of our students and thank you for having them come to Seaside Elementary. Below this message, I am using a feature that I haven't ever used before and I wanted to test it out this week. This might be a feature that I can use in the future. Please answer my Super Bowl poll question. No matter who you're rooting for, we are a winning team here at Seaside Elementary! We are looking forward to seeing our students back at Seaside on Monday, February 12, 2024. Please enjoy the weekend and be safe!

PTO Snack Cart
💟Our Stingray Staff surely felt the love Friday morning with all of the breakfast goodies provided by our February Snack Cart sponsors, Coastal Carolina National Bank! Thank you so much, Lori & Stephanie, and everyone else at CCNB Garden City for warming our hearts with this delicious breakfast. Thank you for your kindness! 💟
Thank you!
The Stingray Staff had a Tailgate Luncheon Friday to celebrate this weekend’s big game. Our PTO was lucky enough to score a donation of chicken tenders from Bojangles (Surfside) for everyone to enjoy alongside all of the yummy snacks brought in by the faculty & staff. We are so lucky to have such generous local businesses who continue to support and celebrate everyone in education. We thank our PTO for always taking such good care of us at Seaside! 🎉🏈🎉

Message from Library Media Specialist Amy LaValley
Parents,
The library has added hundreds of new books to the collection this year, but, unfortunately, has already had several library books returned with water damage from water bottles opening and leaking inside backpacks. Please help us protect the books by placing your child’s water bottle in the side pocket of their backpack or having them carry it. Thank you for your help with this issue.
Also, if you are interested the Surfside Beach Library will be hosting a chance to read with Olive the dog on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 4 P.M.
🦺 Safety 🦺
New Safety Fence
We upgraded and had a new fence added to our car rider line to enhance our safety for you and our students. Please be careful when coming around the car rider line so that you do not hit the fence. We do not want any damage to the fence or to your car!
Safety Drills happen monthly! Our Stingrays have done an amazing job following all of our safety procedures for our safety drills. We are so proud of them! Please check out the different types of safety drills that we will be conducting throughout the entire school year.

Attendance Information
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders!
Our doors open for our students at 7 A.M.
- Breakfast begins at 7 A.M. and ends at 7:35 A.M.
- Tardy bell rings at 7:40 A.M. (Please make sure you are on time.) Our car rider line is empty from 7-7:25. Everything starts to pick up right at the last 15 minutes.
- Dismissal is at 2:40. If you are picking up in the car rider line, please have your car rider tag on your dash board the entire time or you will be asked to park and come to the front office.
Attendance Matters!
Research shows that consistent attendance is a critical piece of student success. Absences with doctor notes (medical, eye, dentist) will be marked as medically excused. If absent due to death in the family an obituary or memorial information is needed to excuse for bereavement.
If any of the following occur Horry County Schools requires an attendance meeting to implement an AIP (Attendance Intervention Plan):
- 3 consecutive unexcused absences
- 5 accumulative unexcused absences
- 10 unexcused tardy/early sign-outs
Morning Car Rider Line!
Please help out with our morning car rider line. I am sending this message out in hopes that we can have our students here before 7:40 A.M. Our car rider line starts at 7 A.M. The car rider line is empty from 7 till 7:25 A.M. Right at that last 10 to 15 minutes is where everything gets really busy. Please help us out in the morning and come earlier so when the bell hits at 7:40 A.M. all of our students will be in the building. This way our instruction can start on time. I appreciate all of your help with this.
Message from Nurse Hopkins
Please reach out to Nurse Hopkins if your child has any medical issues that the school may need to know (severe allergies, asthma, diabetes, seizures, etc.) If you need to reach her please call the school at 843-650-3490 or by email at MHopkins002@horrycountyschools.net. It is imperative that we know about any medical issues so that we are able to keep your child safe at all times. Please make sure that your child's shot records are up to date.
Please check your child's backpack!
I cannot stress this enough. Please check your child's backpack for inappropriate items, personal electronic devices, toys, stuffed animals, Pokemon cards, sports cards, plush toys etc. We do not want your child losing their personal items. We are not responsible for any lost items. We do not want any items coming to school that may cause a safety issue or cause your child to get into trouble for. We thank you in advance for doing this! We really appreciate it!
Horry County Schools 2023-24 School Calendar!
Please make sure to refer to the 2023-24 Horry County Schools student calendar! There is no school for students on February 19th and 20th!
When coming to eat lunch with your child
We love having parents coming to eat with their child. Please sit with your child at the tables that have been put out for parents. Please make sure to not travel anywhere else but to the lunch room and back down to the office. Parents are not allowed to walk around with or without their student around the building unsupervised.Thank you for your attention to this!
Thank you for your help!
Students will only be allowed to eat with their parent. Please do not have a friend come to sit with you and your child. Please do not photograph any other children other than your child. We have a do not photograph list and we have students who cannot be photographed.
