CMIT South Elementary School
Week of November 27, 2022

Principal's Desk
Dear CMIT South Elementary Tiger Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well and excited about the start of a new school year. It's with great joy that I write to you today, celebrating the successful completion of our first week back at school. What an amazing start it has been, and I couldn't be prouder of our students, staff, and community.
As we embark on this journey together, I'd like to take a moment to address a few important matters. First and foremost, I want to express my sincere appreciation for your patience and understanding during arrival and dismissal times. We all know that traffic off campus can be quite challenging, and while we do our best to manage the flow, there will be times when delays occur. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly valued as we strive to ensure the safety of our students.
Furthermore, I want to remind everyone to familiarize themselves with the rules and procedures laid out by our administration. Following these guidelines helps us maintain a safe and harmonious environment for our students. Please be patient and kind with each other as we all adjust to new routines. Together, we can make CMIT South Elementary a welcoming and supportive community for all.
I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Parent Patrol and the PTO for their invaluable assistance throughout the week. Your commitment to our school's success is truly commendable, and we couldn't do it without you.
In the coming week, we anticipate the arrival of several staff members who are in the final stages of clearance through the Human Resources of Prince George's County Public Schools. They will be joining our team and contributing their expertise to our educational mission.
I'm pleased to inform you that this past week, all students had the opportunity to review the Students Rights and Responsibilities handbook with me. It's crucial that we uphold these standards of conduct to ensure a respectful and inclusive learning environment. Students will need to return their signed acknowledgment of the handbook to their classroom teacher promptly. Please note that we will hold this meeting quarterly to reinforce our commitment to these principles.
As we look forward to the weeks ahead, I am confident that together we will achieve great things. Our focus remains on nurturing the growth and development of each student, and your partnership is instrumental in this journey.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children's education. Have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to all the exciting moments that the new school year will bring.
Warm regards,
Ronald A. Miller, Jr

Counselor's Corner
Welcome back CMIT Tiger Family and Hello to my new Tigers!
My name is Ms. Chandler and I am the Professional School Counselor. This is my 5th year as the counselor at CMIT and I would not want to be anywhere else! I am a product of Prince George's County and I am proud to serve in my community. I am a graduate of Temple University and received my master's in School Counseling and Mental Health from Trinity Washington University. My passion has always been in education and being an advocate for our youth. As a Professional School Counselor, I play an instrumental role in working directly with your child on their academic, career, and personal/social development. My goal is to provide all of our students with a wealth of knowledge and materials to encourage social-emotional development and academic achievement. Each year, individual and small group services are available for students, as well as classroom guidance lessons. These services promote personal and social growth which, in turn, raise academic standards. I believe all our students are resilient and have the ability to succeed with all the support from myself, teachers, and the staff here at CMIT. Thanks for the opportunity to work with your children! I am excited to begin the school year. If you should have any questions and/or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at dchandler@cmitsouthes.org.

- This week, students are learning how to get along with peers in their newly formed groups. They are learning new rules, routines, and procedures.
- Chromebooks were distributed and, by Friday, all students should be able to log in with their passwords. Please teach/remind students to keep their Chromebook clean and free from food particles and water spills.
