Promesa CEO/Superintendent Finalist

Dear Promesa Community,
Yesterday evening, the Promesa Board voted unanimously to name Dr. Atikah Shemshack as the lone finalist for Promesa's CEO/Superintendent role. The Promesa Board launched its search for a new CEO/Superintendent in early April and received over 60 applicants for the role. This pool was narrowed down to four semifinalists who interviewed with the Promesa community and subsequently to two finalists who interviewed with the Board. The Promesa Board is grateful for all of the feedback and input from the Promesa community in developing a leadership profile for the new Superintendent and in interviewing potential candidates.
Throughout the interview process, we have been impressed by Dr. Shemshack's caring nature, ability to develop strong connections, passion for our community and the work, humility, and desire to build upon the strong foundation we have created at Promesa. The Board has full confidence that Dr. Shemshack will continue to uphold the values and pillars that set Promesa apart while continuing to move our school forward in the right direction.
As I prepare for my transition away from our beautiful Promesa community later this summer, I am so grateful to the Promesa Board, many of whom have been part of our school since the early founding years, for identifying a finalist who will continue the incredible work that we have collectively started at Promesa.

I’m proud to be considered to be a part of the amazing Promesa community!
I firmly believe that each child has unique talents and potential, and our collective responsibility is to empower them to succeed academically, emotionally, and socially. By fostering an environment that celebrates diversity, encourages critical thinking, and cultivates a love for lifelong learning, we will enable our students to become responsible global citizens and future leaders.
Open communication and collaboration are vital to our success as a school community. I will encourage all staff members to share their insights, innovative ideas, and concerns openly as we work together to create the best educational experience for our students. Your expertise and dedication are invaluable, and I am committed to supporting you in your professional growth and providing the resources necessary for excellence.
Equally important is our partnership with the community. Parents, guardians, and community members play a crucial role in the success of our schools. I am eager to engage in meaningful dialogue, build strong relationships, and foster a sense of shared ownership in our educational endeavors. Your input and involvement are vital as we navigate challenges and pursue growth opportunities.
I hope to launch this work by embarking on a listening tour to meet with staff members, families, students, and community stakeholders. I am eager to learn more about the strengths, aspirations, and areas for improvement within our district. Together, we will develop a strategic plan that reflects our collective goals and ensures the success of every student. We will strive to enhance our educational programs, promote inclusivity, and prepare our students to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
I am confident that with our shared commitment and dedication, we will continue to build upon the exceptional educational foundation already in place. Together, we will inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of leaders and innovators.
