The Beebe School had been accepted to participate in the PBIS Academy sponsored through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The PBIS academy is an intensive PD designed to help school teams implement tiered systems of instruction and support.

This month we sent a team to attend a 2-day training for PBIS Academy facilitated by the May Clinic.During this training the team was able to evaluate the initial PBIS lessons developed over the summer and make adjustments to improve their effectiveness. The team broadened the Matrix to include expectations in the auditorium and during presentations. Lessons were designed to teach these expectations to students and children will be given the opportunity to practice these skills in the space.

We held our first round of PBIS assemblies this month. These events are a great opportunity for students to come together as a community and celebrate their accomplishments. The students were amazing and had a really good time cheering for each other. Our Mascot, the Beebe Bulldog made an appearance at each of the assemblies and many students won some cool prizes.

Our PBIS bulletin board was installed this month to help us track our progress school-wide. Every 200 Beebe bucks a class earns allow the students to choose a reward from the PBIS incentive menu and buys a bone for our bulldog's dish. As you can see, this is one well fed bulldog!

This year the Beebe School participated in the inaugural ‘Harvard Crimson Reading Program.

The goal of the program was to inspire students to read and have fun while doing so. In addition to promoting a love of reading, Harvard Student-Athletes came to visit students at the Beebe. These athletes spoke to our students about the importance of actively reading, and read to younger students from some of their own favorite childhood books.

Beebe students that completed their reading program were given a FREE ticket and will be recognized at the Harvard vs. Dartmouth football game on Saturday, November 2nd at 1:00 pm. As part of the ultimate prize, ALL schools and students participating in the Reading Program will be invited onto the field prior to the game for a parade and photo opportunities.

A huge shout out to the Beebe School's amazing PTO for hosting two fun student and family events this month with the K-4 and 5-6 Halloween dances. Attendance at the event was great. We had ghosts, princesses, firemen, pirates, superheroes and villains all dancing and sharing some fantastic treats. Even some teachers were seen mingling with the crew.

Bulldog Fridays have been a big hit with staff and students. Bulldog Fridays are always optional and are a fun opportunity to build school spirit. Students are invited to wear their bulldog gear or show their Malden Public School spirit in the blue and gold.students.

Mr. Nicholson: Mr. Nicholson or Mr. N is a graduate from Plymouth State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. Since graduating, Michael has taught in every school in Malden as a substitute and became a 5-8 Health Teacher at the Ferryway School last year. He has been a Malden resident all of his life and he was also a student to the Beebe School. He coaches many sports outside the gymnasium including middle school cross country, track & field, and high school gymnastics. His hobbies include anything outdoors and being active as well as spending his weekends in the beautiful mountains of New Hampshire.

At the Beebe School student safety is of utmost concern. Students should come to school at their stated arrival times as there is no supervision available for early arrivals outside of the morning program. We have been noticing an uptick is conflicts happening during these unsupervised times and with the cooler weather approaching it is important students remain safe and comfortable.

Arrival time for students in grades 7 & 8 is 7:45 am with breakfast at 7:30 A.M..

We try to get our students outside for recess whenever the weather cooperates. This means we play outside even when the weather's cool. Please be sure to send your child to school with their jacket & hat.

If your child is missing their sweatshirt, pants, shorts or jacket please stop by our lost and found to see if the item may be on the table.
