Message from Principal Thill
Dear Jefferson Families:
Monday, October 30th is picture retake day. If your child was absent on the initial picture day, enrolled to Jefferson after the initial picture day, or if you would like your child to redo their picture, please have your child come to school appropriately dressed to take a photo. If you did receive proofs from the first photo shoot, you will need to return them.
On October 31st we will be celebrating Fall Fest. Students and staff are encouraged to wear fall colors (red, yellow, brown, green, orange) that day instead of costumes. Students may bring a treat to share with their classmates. Treats must be store-bought and individually wrapped if a food item. Please consider sending a non-food item or an item from the allergen-free list. (Click here for list).
Don’t forget that October 31, 2023, is a half-day for students. Students will be dismissed at 11:20 am. There will be no classes for PreK PM students.
Today is the end of quarter 1. Family Conferences will be held on November 9th and 10th. During these conferences, teachers will share updates on your student's academic progress as well as their overall adjustment to the new school year. Teachers should have shared instructions for how to sign up for conferences by October 28th - please follow the steps they shared through their classroom-level communication.
Attendance Matters
Facts about Good Attendance
Encouraging regular school attendance is one of the most powerful ways you can prepare your child for success—both in school and in life. When you make school attendance a priority, you help your child get better grades, develop healthy life habits, avoid dangerous behavior and have a better chance of graduating from high school.
When students are absent for fewer days, their grades and reading skills often improve—even among those students who are struggling in school. Students who attend school regularly also feel more connected to their community, develop important social skills and friendships, and are significantly more likely to graduate from high school, setting them up for a strong future.
But when kids are absent for an average of just two days of school per month—even when the absences are excused– it can have a negative impact.
