Send us your family Christmas photo
We would love to have a copy of your family Christmas card for our bulletin board. This is a great way for us to get to know your family better. Please send your card to the school office.
Santa's Workshop--December 7-8
Santa’s Workshop is coming December 7th and 8th! For those new to Sacred Heart, Santa’s Workshop is an opportunity for students to shop for their families for Christmas. A large variety of gifts will be available for purchase for $1-$8/gift. Most students shop for their parents, siblings, and grandparents, but parents can help set the shopping list and budget with their student when the Santa’s Workshop green envelope comes home after Thanksgiving break. PTC volunteers will be present to help shoppers manage their budget and gift selection, but your input on the envelope is extremely helpful. We want this to be a fun activity for all students, so if you are in need of financial assistance for your student(s) to shop, please let us know because we do have a St. Nicholas fund to help out. If you’d like to contribute to the St. Nicholas fund, please check the box on the green envelope donating any remaining funds to PTC. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Frances de Kooker at francesrivera19@gmail.com.
We need a few volunteers to help on Dec. 7-8. Please check out SignUp.

Communication regarding our Youth Ministry Program
December 1, 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Sacred Heart has been blessed for the last eight years with the Director of our Youth Ministry Program – Matt Kruc. Some of you may be aware that Matt had also become a volunteer Firefighter with the Fridley Fire Department a few years ago, which he was able to accomplish at the same time as his work in Youth Ministry at Sacred Heart. More recently, Matt has decided to pursue work as a full-time firefighter and accepted a job with the St. Cloud Fire Department. After much discussion, Matt has graciously offered to continue in a reduced capacity during this transition period while we determine the next steps with our youth ministry program at Sacred Heart.
We have been fortunate to have Matt as our Director of Youth Ministry. He has been an incredible asset to the youth program at Sacred Heart and has built the program into something that directly supports the mission at Sacred Heart. We will miss him greatly and are very thankful for all he has done. Likewise, we are grateful for his willingness to continue with some youth ministry activities for the time being as we evaluate the next steps for this part of parish life at Sacred Heart. Due to his new responsibilities with the St. Cloud Fire Department, there are some things that he will no longer be able to provide for us.
While we do not have all the details on how these programs will proceed, here is what we do know:
1) Confirmation:
a. Maggie Powell will be the Confirmation Coordinator. All communication will go through Maggie. She will coordinate all the Confirmation requirements and communicate any updates to students/families. Any questions regarding Confirmation logistics, requirements, due dates, etc. can be directed to Maggie at maggiep@shrmn.org.
b. Fr. Pedersen is now providing a brief period of instruction at the beginning of each session of the Confirmation program for 9th & 10th graders, this teaching is then followed with break-out sessions in small groups led by Becky Lahr and John Malone. We are utilizing the YDisciple programming developed by Net Ministries through Formed.org as a basis for Confirmation small group break-out sessions.
c. Morgan Leisgang is coordinating Confirmation instruction for the 8th graders at Sacred Heart School during the school day, and Fr. Pedersen is visiting monthly to provide additional instruction. The YDisciple programming is likewise being used.
d. Nick Ryan is coordinating Confirmation instruction for the 8th graders in the Faith Formation program on Wednesday evenings. The YDisciple programming is being used as a part of this instruction. Fr. Pedersen will be making some visits to this group as well.
2) Youth Nights & Open Youth Room
a. Matt will continue to run these and will communicate directly when these will be offered based on his schedule.
3) After School Youth Program:
a. This program will currently not be offered until further notice.
4) Winter Faith Camp:
a. This camp is scheduled for Feb. 23-25. The cost is $225/person. This camp serves as one of the retreat options for Confirmation students. We will provide further details in the near future on how to register for this event.
5) Extreme Faith Camp:
a. Matt is currently part of a team who has visited the new EFC site. We will provide more information on who will be coordinating this camp for Sacred Heart, including dates, cost, etc. as soon as we work through the details.
We appreciate your patience and support as we work through the next steps and corresponding staffing for the youth ministry program at Sacred Heart. We also want all to know that the youth of our parish and school are especially important in furthering the mission at Sacred Heart. We want to make sure that we go through the right process and take the right amount of time to determine the best approach for the youth ministry program at Sacred Heart going forward now that Matt is departing.
We wish Matt the absolute best in his new role as a full-time firefighter for the City of St. Cloud. They are blessed to have him! We will plan to give Matt a proper send off at a date to be determined – keep your eyes open for more details in the near future.
Thank you for your prayers and support during this transition period with our youth program.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Bryan J.B. Pedersen

Need help paying for tuition?
MN Fundraising Initiative (MNFI) secures contracts with over 23 venues in the greater Twin Cities area including Target Field, Target Center, Canterbury, and US Bank to operate food and beverage concessions stands at their events.
MNFI organizes teams of volunteers from all over the state of MN and WI who work together to run these stands. In turn, MNFI receives donations from these venues. The donations are then used to award grants to families in local communities to allow youth to attend private school, such as Sacred Heart Catholic School and participate in enrichment activities they may not otherwise be able to enjoy. Checks are mailed directly to Sacred Heart in your name.
Many of our school families use this organization to help pay for tuition.
