Washington DC, Awards and Phones at school
Hello Anoka Middle School families. This is Mr. Hagerty, your AMSA Principal with a few updates and reminders for your family.
First, it’s not too late to sign up for this year's AMSA trip to Washington DC. You have until February 22. This student experience is May 2nd through May 5th and is available to any AMSA student and parents. If you are interested in more information, please contact 6th grade Washington Campus teachers Robin Michalski or Barb O'Gorman.
Second, I am so proud to announce that Anoka Middle School for the Arts has been named a National Merit School of Excellence by the National Association of Magnet Schools of America. Merit School of Excellence Awards are only given to a select group of magnet schools across the US. Schools of Excellence are eligible to be named in the nation’s top Elementary, Secondary, or New & Emerging Magnet School. We appreciate the honor.
Lastly, a reminder to our parents and guardians that students who choose to bring phones to school need to power them down at the start of our school day and phones must remain off for the remainder of the instructional day. We will provide all the necessary technology needed for their education. We’ve recently had an uptick with social media bullying and harassment outside of the school day. Please review the social media platforms your child is using and be aware of what they are sending and receiving. We appreciate your partnership on this topic.
Keep working hard, make great choices and most importantly be kind.
