Important: State SBA Testing Information For Families

State testing begins soon. We will be testing this fall to make up for last year, and then again in the spring.

Please be looking in your physical mail box over the next few days for a detailed letter over that is specific to your student's testing plan.

Who will be testing? - 11th and 12th Graders

When will testing take place? - October 26th and 27th

What tests are students taking?

11th Graders - Math and ELA
12th Graders - Math, ELA and WCAS (Science)

Where will testing take place? - In Family Class Groups. Students will be given exact room assignments on October 19th in their Family classes. This information is also being mailed home.

Are the state tests required? Yes, passing state exams is one way to meet the state's graduation pathway requirement. Students who have met the pathway requirement are not required to test- (students are informed next week if they are required to test or not).

What about the Sophomores? Sophomores will have late arrival in the fall and will be testing in the spring.

What will the daily schedule look like on testing days? Please see below for the schedule.

Important Dates and Schedule -

Oct. 19th - Family Lesson and pass out student letters with testing information

Oct. 26th - SBA ELA 11th & 12 Test, 10th Late Arrival ( 3hr Late Start)

Oct. 27th - Science & SBA Math: 12th and 11th Graders Test, 10th Graders Late Arrival ( 3hr Late Start)

Remind Invitation

In an effort to get more of our families and students connected via remind, we will be sending out an invitation to emails next week encouraging students and families to sign up to receive Remind notifications. Congratulations to the Fife Booster Club's 2021 Hall of Fame Inductees!

Shane Nixon

In over 20 years as the head baseball coach, Mr. Nixon has been recognized as the league’s Coach of the Year six times, most recently in 2021, and statewide in 2018. He transitioned to Athletic Director in 2016 and has spent countless hours preparing and guiding teams, athletes, and families. Those efforts earned Shane the 2A SPSL Athletic Director of the Year honor in 2020.

Roger Scott

Roger graduated from Fife High School with the class of 1980 and received his teaching certificate and has been a teacher and coach at SLMS for the past 20 years. Mr. Scott has been a dedicated teacher and coach to multiple generations of Fife alumni.

Mark Schelbert

Mark started his career as a teacher and coach at Fife High in 1998. Over the past 23 years as head basketball coach, he has amassed over 300 wins, 2 league championships, 2 district championships, and 9 State tournament appearances. Mark has been voted Coach of the Year four times so far. He has also helped build some of the most competitive programs for both the boys and girls tennis teams as an assistant coach the past 14 years.

John Shula

John graduated from Fife High School in 1980. As a teacher at Fife High School Mr. Shula created Trojan Digital Media and his classes have earned several NW Emmy nominations. In 1994, John was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He continued to teach and incorporated his diagnosis and treatment into his teaching. In 2004, John was in the hospital after a bone marrow transplant to treat his Leukemia. His students started Shulapalooza, a film festival that annually raises money for cancer research and has raised over $20,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society since its inception.

Kent Nevin

With 112 and counting, Mr. Nevin is the winningest coach in Trojan football history. Kent was hired in 2003 to teach social studies, leadership, and conditioning. Kent is a 4 time 2A SPSL Coach of the Year. In 2018, he was named All-Area Coach of the Year by the Tacoma News Tribune and WA High School Coach of the Year by the National Football Foundation. Kent’s message has always been ATF – Always Team First – for his core belief that lifting others up, together, makes us a stronger team and community.
