Belmont Elementary: A PAWSitive Place to Learn!
Light Up Your Health with Nurse Watts! (See What We Did There?)
Healthy sight and hearing play a huge role in your child’s development and learning success. Our goal is to screen and identify students with potential problems early. We will begin our vision and hearing screening next week and continue throughout the next few months. Hearing screenings are provided for K,3 and 5, and vision screenings K, 1, 2, 3, and 5. We will also conduct screenings for any new students to the district and those with identified medical needs. Results will be forwarded to parents once completed. Please remember, screening is used to identify a child at risk for problems and does not replace a comprehensive examination.
Secondly, we are fast approaching flu season. Remember, the single best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated! The flu vaccine is not a live vaccine and can NOT cause the flu. Side effects are possible but usually very mild and most often associated with soreness at the injection site. Protect yourself and our community and consider a flu shot!
Keep up the proper hand washing and keep those hands away from the faces! That's something all of us can do to keep our school healthy!
In the Building is a BEautiful Place to BE!

Pick Up Line Start Time No Earlier Than 3:30, please!
While we're on the subject of pick up, please remember that cell phones should not be used while in the parking lot. Please keep your attention on those darling children you just picked up from school! They can hardly wait to tell you about their day at school! You are their MVP!
Oooooooh!! Fall Fun to End the Month!
PTO (that's you) sponsors three classroom parties for our students: Fall, Winter and Valentines Day. First up is our Fall Party Day, scheduled for Tuesday, October 31st! Last year's format brought all the fun with zero fright so we're sticking with the plan and doing it all again! Start crossing your fingers for BEautiful weather for our parade!
Here's the plan:
- Costumes!
- Party!
- Parade!
Details, details, details....
- Costumes are encouraged for students during the party and parade time, but of course, they are not required. Experience has taught us that it's really not as easy as you'd think for students to manage a costume all day, so costumes should be brought to school in a bag or backpack and should be fairly easy for your kiddo to put on by themselves with minimal assistance. Costumes should be elementary appropriate and not too scary. Please do not include blood, guts, gore or weapons of any kind. Accessories (think..projectiles and things to trip over) should stay at home and be saved for Halloween night trick-or-treating. Masks are fine as long as vision is not impaired for walking in the parade!
- Classroom Party help is encouraged, but will be limited to best accommodate student needs! We would like to invite 2-3 parents from each classroom to plan and lead a craft, game or both for the 2:45-3:15 party in their child's class. These parents will be welcomed into the classroom at 2:30 to set up as well as assist younger students with their costumes if needed. We will NOT be serving food at parties. This helps us to both enjoy more time playing, and alleviate allergy concerns for every child. They'll get PLENTY of candy and treats during trick or treating with your family- and you'll be able to best monitor their safety! If you would like to volunteer to plan and lead your child's classroom party, please contact your child's teacher ASAP. If more parents are interested than we have room for, we'll have a drawing and save names for the next party. Thank you so much for your time!
- Outdoor Parade at 3:!5! YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY is invited for a front row view of all of our little monsters, movie stars, scientists, musicians, scarecrows, animals, super heroes, creators, book characters, princesses, ..............oh, my goodness! I can hardly wait! Here's how we know we can best make this happen- when you arrive for the parade, you may either park in an open parking space and walk up to the front lawn (we'll provide guidance for the best view) or just pull right up in the regular pick up loops, turn off your car and leave it in line, then walk up to the viewing area. After the parade (about 3:32ish) just walk right back to your cars and get ready for the loops to move like normal at regular dismissal time. Please, do not come inside to check your kiddos out early- we'll need those precious minutes to make sure our Bulldogs are all packed up and ready to go with all costume parts intact for the big night. Genius!
It's going to BE Spooktacular!! We hope you can join us for the parade and appreciate the planners who volunteer to lead the crafts and activities!

Now Accepting Reservations for BE Family Luncheon Seating
Lunch at school is considered a special privilege. Please, reserve this opportunity for special occasions or once in a while treats. We have many families and only so many spots! We appreciate your willingness to share the love (and the table!)
A few things to keep in mind:
- Lunch periods are 27 minutes long and we have to stay on schedule. Be here a few minutes early to get signed in. Your child gets REALLY stressed out when they don't see you as they walk down the hall when they know that you are supposed to be there.
- Parents may be joined at their reserved seats by their child only. It can create negative competition with hurt feelings when we allow others to join.
- Parents may bring in outside food for their dining party only. We have several students with food allergies or intolerances, and the students know that for safety reasons we do not share or trade food. Food and/or drink must be consumed during the lunch period and not sent back to class with the student.
- Confidentiality is important to us, so kindly refrain from sharing stories later if you happen to notice that another child is having behavioral or learning challenges. We've got people for that! Feel absolutely free to seek assistance from our on-duty staff if you notice that someone needs help!
How do I sign up? Click this link to let us know when you are coming! Closer to your date, please call the office to reserve a school lunch if you're not bringing your own. The cost of an adult lunch is $4.35, which needs to be paid (with exact change, please) on the date you will eat with us.
If you like LOTS of happy noise all at once and don't mind the possibility of wearing syrup and ketchup on your body when you leave...feel free to join us!
