Principal’s Message
Dear Stonegate Elementary Caregivers and Families,
Happy New Year! As we step into 2024, we reflect on the journey of the past year with gratitude and anticipation for the opportunities that lie ahead. Our motto for the year has been "Trust the Magic of New Beginnings," and what better time to embrace this sentiment than the start of a new year.
May this year bring you and your family an abundance of joy, laughter, and memorable moments. As we embark on this fresh opportunity, let's celebrate the potential for growth, learning, and positive experiences. Stonegate Elementary is excited to continue fostering a supportive and enriching environment for our students, and we look forward to the shared adventures that the new year will bring.
Wishing you a joyous and prosperous 2024 filled with love, success, and the magic of new beginnings!
With gratitude and excitement,
Linda M. Jones
Principal, Stonegate Elementary
Maryland State Report Card
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has released the 2023 Maryland Report Card for all schools in the state of Maryland. Our school’s Maryland Report Card can be found at this link https://reportcard.msde.maryland.gov/Graphs/#/ReportCards/ReportCardSchool/1/E/1/15/0316/0
The Maryland Report Card is designed to evaluate school success in several ways, measuring state test results in English Language Arts/Literacy and math; postsecondary readiness; progress of English learners in achieving English language proficiency; graduation rate; and students with access to and earning credit for a well-rounded curriculum.
Below are a few resources to help you understand the Maryland Report Card:
While the Maryland Report Card does provide important information about our schools, it provides a limited view into the progress of our more than 161,000 students. To better understand how our schools are serving all of our students, MCPS has developed the Equity Accountability Model that provides a more detailed and focused report of school success. The Equity Accountability Model uses multiple and frequent measures of students’ progress to determine if a school is meeting the needs of ALL students, with a special emphasis on reducing and eliminating disparities in student achievement.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions.
Sincerely,
Linda M. Jones

Clothing To Cash Recycling Program
Clothing to Cash® is a program that collects new and used clothing, shoes, sheets, towels, and all textiles and pays the school for every pound collected. As your child is outgrowing clothes, don’t throw those clothes away, give clothes a second life by donating them to Stonegate.
This recycling program is a win-win! It’s free and convenient for families and also serves as an ongoing fundraiser that serves our students and school community.
The program is operated entirely OUTSIDE and is located in the school parking lot, where students, parents, staff, and the community can drop off items throughout the year. They have state-of-the-art photo quantity sensors installed in each bin that report 3 times daily allowing the company to schedule service as needed. They empty the collection bin, weigh the contents to determine our school earnings, and pay our school each month. Every donation helps. If each family donates just one kitchen-size trash bag, we will earn $1000- $2000 yearly.
Stonegate families, relatives, neighbors, and staff are all encouraged to participate!
