Fun-A-Thon: Raise money for Clubs, Activities & Sports at SJH!
Time is running out to register for Fun-a-thon!
No time left for procrastination - your opportunity to register your student for the Fun-a-thon fundraiser is running out. Follow these directions to help support PTO programs and after school activities. You’ll be done in less than 10 minutes - it’s the quickest fundraiser ever.
As of earlier this week we had already received more than $4300 in donations. The most amazing part is that this amount has been raised by about ten percent of our students! Because the fundraiser is so quick and easy, we can increase this amount significantly in a short amount of time.
Don’t forget:
The more we raise, the better the party will be for students. We know they want to see teachers in the dunk tank!
Every student who has registered by Wednesday will be put in a drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card.
Every student who receives at least one donation will receive a pair of Aves Aviator sunglasses.
Fun-a-thon Weather Update
The current weather forecast for the Fun-a-thon is hot and sunny! The students will be out on the track for an hour during the event, so we want to make sure they stay hydrated! We will provide Kona Ice as a special treat, but ask that students bring their own water bottles and we will have filling stations. We also recommend students wear sunscreen. They will be permitted to bring that to the track with them. We look forward to this fun celebration!
REMINDER for SJH National Beta Club recommendations to current 7th-graders:
Recommendation letters (on gold paper) were given to students who earned a cumulative GPA of 3.7 for the first three quarters of their seventh-grade year to apply for SJH's chapter of the National Beta Club.
Beta club is a nationally recognized organization that is based on the motto: "Let us lead by serving others." This organization is similar to the National Honor Society at the high school where academic achievement is recognized and community service opportunities are encouraged. The club meets after school approximately once per quarter, but more meetings are held prior to events in which the club participates. Additionally, throughout the year, volunteer opportunities will be posted for students to partake in their own time.
If your student met the academic criteria, they must also complete the application and pay the $20 membership fee if they choose to become a member. All details are on the recommendation form given to the student. The strict deadline for applications and the fee is Tuesday, May 10th.

8th Grade Day
Dear Parent:
8th Grade Day on June 2, 2022 is quickly approaching for our outgoing 8th grade students. This day is filled with fun at the Blue Ash Recreation Center. On April 14th, Mr. Lavercombe met virtually through announcements with students to discuss the expectations of 8th Grade Day. This included how students earn the privilege of attending 8th Grade Day. Students were given the following expectations to meet in order to attend:
Maintain passing grades in your classes. Students who have multiple failures for 4th quarter will not be permitted to attend.
Attend school. Students with excessive absences/tardies to school 4th quarter will not be permitted to attend.
Follow directions from adults. Students who are chronically noncompliant will not be permitted to attend.
Demonstrate respect towards others. Students who are rude or disrespectful towards others or property will not be permitted to attend.
Be a leader. Model excellence. Students who continue to violate the code of conduct or demonstrate behaviors that are not outstanding examples of what a SJH student is all about will not be permitted to attend.
Students should be in good standing with the media center, having returned all books and paid overdue fines.
We will inform any student who is not on track to earn 8th Grade Day of their status. Parents will also be contacted if a student is in danger of not being permitted to attend. If a final decision is made that a student is not permitted to attend, the administration will communicate that decision to both the student and parent. Please note, if a student has multiple class failures as of Friday, May 27th, they will be required to remain at the Junior High School for 8th Grade Day and work to improve their grades.
All students have been informed that if he/she receives another discipline referral in the area(s) called out above, then this may result in his/her missing the privilege of attending 8th Grade Day on Thursday, June 2nd.
Thank you for your attention in this matter,
Clay Lavercombe
