How can I translate online content from English to my preferred language?
- On your computer, phone, or tablet, you can install Google Translate for free.
- Once installed, it can be used without an Internet connection.
- Google Translate can be used to translate text, handwriting, speech, and websites.
What can I do if I'm having trouble understanding my child's schoolwork?
- Reach out to your child’s teacher or someone else at the school.
- Look for contact information from the school.
- Apply for special services if you think your child may need it.
How can I find meals for my child?
- Visit TXSchools.gov to find nearby locations of schools offering free school meals (both breakfast and lunch for pick-up) while school buildings are closed.
- Select “Meal Pick-up Location” and enter an address to find the closest location.
How can I set up internet so my child can connect to his or her school?
TEA has compiled a list of cable providers that offer free broadband and Internet service to support at-home learning. The list can be accessed through the following link:

How to Help Your Child with Reading
Reading is the skill that helps unlock all of the other skills a child needs to succeed in school! Help young students in Pre-Kindergarten - 3rd grade by:
- Talking to them about their school day and experiences.
- Reading them their favorite books over and over again and talking about what they have heard and read.
- Take them to the local library to borrow books and learn how to access and read E-books!
Help your preteens and teens to love reading by:
- Having them read aloud to younger siblings.
- Taking them to your local library.
- Helping them choose reading materials related to your family history and culture!
