PTA Council President Presents Elementary School PTA Options
During the Superintendent's comments, PTA Council President, Karen Grossman, presented four options for how the elementary school PTA's could run next year as the restructuring takes effect. Ms. Grossman worked closely with the New York State PTA and examined more than 20 different school districts that also went through restructuring before arriving at the four options below. The PTA Council board and two members of each school's PTA board (President and Council Representative) will vote in late January on the best option for our District. This will come after each school PTA presents options to its members and is provided feedback.
The four options are:
1. All four schools have their own PTA with traditional boards
- 1 President or 2 Co-presidents
- Vice President (s)
- 1 or 2 Secretaries (Recording/Corresponding)
- Treasurer
- Council Delegate
- Committee Chairs
2. One big elementary school PTA is created:
- 1 President or 2 Co-presidents
- 4 Vice Presidents (one from each school)
- 1 or 2 Secretaries (Recording/Corresponding)
- Treasurer
- 4 Council Delegates (1 from each school)
- Committee Chairs (must have members from each school)
3. Two sister school PTAs are created: One board for RP Connor / Cherry Lane Schools and one board for Sloatsburg / Montebello Schools
Each PTA would have:
- 1 President or 2 Co-presidents
- 2 Vice Presidents (one from each school)
- 1 or 2 Secretaries (Recording/Corresponding)
- Treasurer
- 2 Council Delegates (one from each school)
- Committee Chairs (must have members from each school)
