Welcome to WesTech
βοΈ 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR INFORMATIONπ
Hello BCIT Families-
The summer months provide time for us to relax and recharge, and hopefully by the end of August, we are ready to ignite our interest in learning and being part of the school community. I would like to welcome you as we embark on another year of growth, learning, and achievement here at the Westampton Campus.
During the past few months, we have been preparing for another productive year. Schedules are complete, personnel are hired, and teachers are poised to provide an engaging and caring learning experience. We are committed to fostering academic excellence, personal development, and a sense of belonging that will empower each and every student to reach their full potential. As our preparations are in motion, we ask that students think about their commitment to education and to making BCIT a positive experience. By working together, we can enrich the student experience at BCIT.
For the upcoming school year we will continue to focus on diversity and inclusion through daily instruction and interactions. We will also provide trainings to students to address social awareness, decision making, digital citizenship, mental health, dating violence, drug/alcohol education, bullying, sexual abuse, and sexual harrassment. Additionally, staff will be trained in executive functioning skills to better assist our students, and we will continue to grow our work-based learning programs.
As parents and guardians, your partnership is invaluable. We encourage you to stay involved in your childβs education by maintaining open lines of communication with our teachers and administrators. Working together, we can provide the support and guidance necessary for our students to flourish academically and personally. From time to time, you will receive communications to keep you aware of many aspects of school life. These, along with the Parent/Student handbook and the Genesis Parent Portal, are meant to provide you with important information. I ask that you pay particular attention to our attendance policy which has been revised to address student lateness and early dismissal.
I hope you find this information informative as we kick off another school year. My door is always open, and I welcome the opportunity to meet with parents to discuss ideas as well as concerns.
I look forward to our anticipated supportive partnership, ensuring the success of our students.
Enjoy the remaining weeks of the summer.
