CES Newsletter
November 2022
From Mrs. Redden
Thank you for the end of another 6 weeks at CES! Its hard to believe we are already in November! In some ways it feels like the school year has just begun. Your children have been working very hard, and we are so proud of them.
Thank you for sending your students to school each day unless they are sick. Our students need to be at school as often as possible so they can receive instruction. When students are late or absent, they are missing valuable instruction that is difficult to make up.
Our teachers have been working very hard this school year on lesson alignment and formative assessment, or as we call it, LAFA. This includes looking at the standard to make sure our daily learning objectives are aligned to the activities and assessments that are done in class. Teachers are doing an excellent job and great conversations are happening everyday!
We are looking for GROWTH at CES. At the beginning of the school year, all students took the MAP test. This is a test that shows us exactly where students are academically in Reading and Math and gives teachers information on where to start intervening with each child. One way you can help at home is to have your child read each evening. While we do not assign a lot of homework, it is very important to have your child read as often as possible. We are also seeing many of our students who do not know their multiplication facts. Working on these at home will help your child in math class.
