Clear Out Your Closets for a Good Cause!
Helpers are URGENTLY needed to sort, fold and organize all of the donations for our $1-2-3 Clothing Sale. It's a great way to meet new families at school, get a sneak peek of the merchandise, and help out our BGS community.
Stay for an hour or stay all day - every little bit helps! These volunteer slots are even great for your high schoolers looking for community service hours. We'll be setting up throughout the day on Friday, Oct. 18 from 9 AM - 2 PM, then again from 4 - 7 PM. You can sign up for set-up volunteer slots here: https://atozconnect.com/cls/events?oock3262
Helpers are also needed to help staff the Clothing Sale on Saturday, Oct. 19. Shifts are available hourly from 8:30 PM - 2 PM. The link to volunteer for the day of the sale is here: https://atozconnect.com/cls/events?oriw1667
Sign up in AtoZ Connect or shoot a note to bgsptodirectory@gmail.com if you'd like to volunteer but are having issues getting into the site or app.
Want to help, but can't make it to the volunteer hours? Print out our flyer below and place it around town to help us advertise.

Read-a-Thon - One Week In
Lots of our Bears are Reading & Raising! Remember the Read-a-Thon runs until Nov. 7 and students can log both minutes they read AND minutes you read to them.
After only a few days of our Read-a-Thon, we're already making huge progress toward our school wide goals of reading 100,000 minutes and raising $8,000. Just 36 students have helped us raise more than $3700 in pledges so far. If every other student in BGS got a pledge of just $5, we'd collect another $1200! We encourage you to support your child's reading efforts with a pledge, no matter the size.
Our 112 Bears who are reading have logged more 13,000 minutes read as of Thursday night. Keep it up and we'll be on track to SLIME some special people.
If your student misplaced their login information for our school Read-a-thon, reach out to their teacher.
On Monday, our Read-a-Thon chairs will update the school totals, distribute some fun prizes to our lucky readers and raisers, and announce which Owl Team read the most minutes this past week.
Still not sure what the Read-a-Thon is? Watch this video clip to learn more about how students can use the Whooo's Reading platform to log their reading, earn coins for their "Owlvatars" and collect pledges from friends and family (after their parents approve them).
NEXT WEEK'S WEEKLY INCENTIVE:
- 50 reading buttons to be awarded randomly to students who are reading
- 24 reading wristbands to be awarded randomly to students who are fundraising
Celebrate Halloween at the Halloween Hoot
Join us for trunk or treating and ghoulish fun at our annual Halloween Hoot on Friday, Nov. 1 from 7-8:30. Admission is $5 per child, max of $15 per family (pay at the door).
Let us know you're coming so we can plan accordingly by signing up in AtoZ Connect here: https://atozconnect.com/cls/events?cith948 Select the line called "Attending the Hoot" and click the "sign up" button. Then click "sign me up" and let us know the number of kids and adults attending in the comments box.
Help Us Make the Halloween Hoot Great!
The Halloween Hoot is great fun, but needs your help to run. Decorate a trunk and give out treats during the Trunk or Treat. Help us set up or clean up. Donate some snacks or drinks. Help us staff the snack table or a craft or game booth.
Sign up for any of these options in AtoZ Connect here: https://atozconnect.com/cls/events?cith948
In Case You Missed It
- Update Your Info for the School Directory. Choose what you want to include in our student directory - you MUST register for AtoZ Connect to be entered in the directory. For more detail on AtoZ Connect registration and verification, check out our article on our BGS PTO webpage. We will do ALL volunteer signups in AtoZ, plus you can use it to respond to events that need registration and pay for things like spirit wear, class dues and more.
- Become a PTO member. Purchase a membership in AtoZ Connect or submit the below form via cash (exact change please) or check (made out to BGS PTO).
- Pay your class dues in AtoZ Connect or send in $20 in an envelope marked "Class Dues". Include your teacher's name and your student's name. Checks should be made payable to "cash". Class dues are different than PTO membership and go straight to class parents to purchase 3 gifts for your teacher(s) and to offset costs of supplemental party supplies.
Fall Spirit Wear Sale Begins
Fall Spiritwear orders can be placed via AtoZ Connect (credit card only) or via the form below (cash or check made payable to BGS PTO). If returning a form to school, please mark the envelope to PTO - Spiritwear. All orders must be submitted by Oct. 31 so that we can place our school-wide order.
Questions about spirit wear can be directed to the Spirit Wear co-chairs, Jennifer Khoury (jjckhoury@gmail.com) or Christine Kedziora (cd628nd@yahoo.com)
