Message from the Office
Shoe Drive
We've had a successful first week in collecting shoes for our fundraiser! So far, we've bagged up five total bags which is equivalent to 125 pairs of shoes and we've started a sixth bag as well! We are hoping by the end of the collection time we will be able to have 20+ bags!
Progress Reports
Progress reports will be issued by email on Friday, January 19th. If you do not receive your child's progress report, please check your junk/spam folder. If you still can not locate it, please contact the office.
PTO Meeting
The PTO meeting schedule for tonight has been rescheduled to next week, Tuesday, January 23rd at 6:00pm. See the link below.
5th Grade Committee
As we move into 2024, we are beginning to think about our end of the year activities, in particular, our 5th grade students moving up ceremony and Fifth Grade Fun Day. If you are interested in helping to organizing, planning, or fundraising, contact Jen Wheeler barnardcrandallpto@gmail.com.
Somers Strong
We have an amazing Prudence Crandall Family, as a school we were able to raise $710 to donate to the the Somers Angel Tree Fund. As a district we raised over $5,000. As a resident of Somers, I know how much all of the small acts of kindness has meant to our community.
YouTube
The Enfield Public Schools is now offering the ability to block YouTube from the school issued iPad. Please note, if you complete the survey to block YouTube, it will be blocked both at home and in school.
Please find the link below.
Note – it may take up to a week for the settings to go into effect after the survey is completed. This is also communicated to families at the end of the survey when it is completed.
Read-A-Thon
Our first collection of Read A Thon envelopes was Friday, 1/12. All envelopes were returned to you in case you want to continue to collect pledges. The class that brings in the most donations will win an ice cream sundae party! Keep your eye on the bulletin board in the main hallway to see which class is in the lead. All proceeds go toward our One Book, Three Schools reading initiative which will take place in the spring. Thank you!!
Literacy & Numeracy Winter Pajama Party
Prudence Crandall is hosting our annual Literacy and Numeracy Winter Pajama Party on Wednesday, January 24th from 6-7pm. Some of the events will include, fireplace reading, marvelous math activities, delicious hot chocolate and a fabulous book swap. RSVP by clipping and returning the slip on the bottom of the flyer. Please contact the office if you need an additional flyer.

Attendance Letters
Per district attendance procedures, attendance letters will be sent out for all absences, excused or unexcused, following this schedule:
5th absence – 1st Letter
9th absence - 2nd Letter
10th absence – 3rd Letter
Additional letters will be sent after every 5th absence. (ex. 15th, 20th, 25th)
Regardless of the content of the letters, if the majority of absences are excused as defined in the student handbook, we will most likely not reach out unless there are a large number of absences.
If the majority of the absences are unexcused as defined in the handbook, an administrator will be reaching out to offer available support to make sure your child comes to school on a regular basis.
