Thank you to the Northwood Foundation for supporting our students’ love of reading! Ms. Evangelista, our Curriculum Support Teacher, was able to select a book for each grade level to gift each student! I’m not sure who was more full of delight, the students or Ms. Evangelista! Each student will have a book to enjoy over the break.

Enjoy the break with family, friends, and loved ones. Be safe, full of joy, and find time to read, read, read. We look forward to seeing our Explorers back bright and early on Wednesday, January 3, 2024!

Kindergarten has spent the last few weeks traveling with our “suitcase” and “passports” all around the world to learn about the various holidays people from different countries celebrate. We have learned about their weather, where the countries are, and what customs and traditions are part of their celebration.

The students spent time discussing how each celebration was the same or different from theirs and other ones we have learned about in our “travels”. Some of the places we have traveled are India to learn about Diwali, China to explore Chinese New Year, Israel to hear about how Hanukkah is celebrated and why, Kwanza and the purpose behind each night, and how various counties around the world celebrate Christmas.

We have had so much time exploring new places and cultures. A special “Thank You” to Mrs. Booth and Mrs. Gardella for sharing with our grade level.

Teaching Museum - World War II Discovery: The 5th grade students had a very informative field trip to the Roswell 'Teaching Museum' funded by FCS. They had the chance to learn about primary sources of information such as posters & leaflets used during WWII. The highlight of the trip was a performance of a play about Anne Frank and how her and her family hid away in an attic space in Amsterdam. Perhaps the student's favorite activity was the opportunity to dress up in clothes from the time period and really get a feel for what those on the front line and home front must have gone through.

Awards are one of the many wonderful ways we have to recognize and celebrate our Explorers at Northwood. Here is a link to this month's award recipients. Congratulations!

The Infinite Campus Parent Portal provides quick and easy access to information for all enrolled students in their household. Find grades, attendance, assignments, schedules, ID numbers, school announcements and more. If you haven't already joined, please do so today as Fulton County Schools is transitioning to managing everything via the portal.

Parents, please encourage your students to check regularly for lost items in the Lost and Found. Please mark all student belongings clearly with the child’s name so that it can be identified. Unclaimed items are donated to local charities after the last school day of every month. January’s date is Wednesday, January 31st.
