National Substitute Day - September 5th

Tuesday, September 5th is National Substitute Day and CTA Liberty would like to recognize our substitute that is assigned to our school everyday. Ms. Samantha Lunde is CTA Liberty's assigned District Based Sub which means she is with us every day filling in as a substitute if needed. Ms. Lunde graduated from ASU with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. She is a certified teacher who in the past taught 2nd and 3rd grade. She enjoys spending time outside with her fiancé going camping, fishing, water skiing/tubing, hiking quading/dirt biking, and archery. She has two dogs and one cat the she loves dearly.

When Ms. Lunde is not needed as a substitute in a specific classroom, she is our roving superstar. She can be seen helping in PreK, providing extra student support in a classroom through reading groups, assisting with math, ELA, or even taking a morning/lunch/afternoon duty wherever she is needed. Ms. Lunde has become a vital and valued member of CTA Liberty. We are very happy she is with us!

Mrs. Engstrom Selected in Instagram Back to School Giveaway

Mrs. Engstrom was nominated by the mother of 4th grade student, Xavi Espericueta Valencia, for a Back to School Giveaway sponsored by Katie's Az Kitchen and she was selected as the recipient!

Nomination write-up: Mrs. Allison Engstrom has impacted Xavi's, my oldest son's life in such a positive way. She's kind and caring, and treats him with love and respect. She's empowered him to believe in himself and provides quality education. In turn, he has made very visible gains that will follow him for a lifetime. So much that he basically tripled his reading count! From a gentle smile, all the way to private tutoring, she makes an effort to make sure her students succeed. Being a teacher is not easy, but Mrs. Engstrom does it so wonderfully and with a happy heart. We couldn't be more thankful for her and would love to see her win this giveaway.

Mrs. Engstrom was surprised by a visit from Xavi, his mom and Katie from Katie's AZ Kitchen. She received a teacher gift package which included teacher goodies and a gift cards from Starbucks and Target. She also received flowers and balloons from Xavi.

Congratulations, Mrs. Engstrom!

Safety Note from Mrs. Lerma

CTA Liberty Families,

We have had some very dangerous mornings at student drop off. Please remember to drive safely through our parking lots. This includes being aware that you do not block crosswalks, or driving through crosswalks when staff are crossing students. Also, students should never be dropped off on Emmett Street. At 8:05 the back gate is locked so teachers can go to their classrooms. Once the gate is closed, students that are dropped off in the back must be brought to the front parking lot. The second bells rings at 8:10 and any student that is late must come to the front office to be checked in.

Also, we need to remind all families that students cannot be dropped off prior to 7:45 unless they are meeting with a teacher or have a club meeting. There is no supervision on the playground so it is a safety issue to have students on campus prior to 7:45.

*As a reminder, if a parent/guardian is coming into a classroom to volunteer, siblings are not allowed to accompany you.

Thank you for your cooperation as Student Safety is our priority at CTA Liberty.

Mrs. Melissa Lerma

Dean of Students
