Huge thanks to all of the students and staff in the Equity Collaborative who have worked so hard all year. This is a tremendous team effort bringing together our whole community. The Equity Co-Op explores issues of equity, respect, anti-racism and identity. The theme for this year's event is

We are looking forward to our third annual Equity Co-Op school wide conference on Thursday, March 23rd. The Equity Collaborative is a group for students and club representatives committed to furthering school-wide equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and respect. The Collaborative is responsible for planning and executing the Equity Co-op, with the goal of fostering a sense of belonging for all students.

During the school day, students will be attending two workshops on topics of their choosing. These workshops were prepared by many student led NHS clubs and community organizations on a variety of topics. Students will also attend a keynote presentation featuring a six member panel of Natick High School staff, students, and community members. The focus of the keynote will be belonging and bringing awareness to the vast array of experiences on our campus.

STUDENT PARKING AND TRAFFIC

1) The amount of student drivers parking in unpermitted visitor and faculty parking lots has risen to the point where visitors that come to the building (like parents and guardians) have not been able to find parking spots. Students have also been parking in assigned staff spots that they also cannot find spots to park.

Seniors may park in the Memorial Field Lot, and if that is full, they should proceed to the Mahan Baseball Field lot, which is never full.

Juniors may park in the Mahan Field Baseball Field lot only.

Student Parking in the visitor and faculty lot is not permitted at any time, unless they have received a pass from the main office because of mobility needs.

The next step will be to ticket and/or tow vehicles that are not permitted to be in faculty or visitor parking. those ticket/tow fees are the responsibility of the student/family for whom the car is registered. This is going to put into effect as the next step.

2) There is now a bicycle lane on Campus Drive approaching Pond Street as drivers exit the NHS campus. Vehicles are not permitted to travel in the bicycle lane, which creates an unsafe environment for cyclists and the school buses. Student and parents drivers have impeded bus travel by doing this. Please remain in the driving lane only until the top of Campus Drive has been reached, where right and left turns are permitted.

3)The bell schedules for our Daily Schedule, Early Release Day and 2 Hour Delay have been added to the NHS website, under School Info, Bell Schedules.

Wednesday, the 15th will feature Wilson Winds, The high school's Concert Band and Wind Symphony playing their MICCA pieces as they prepare for participation in the MICCA festival later this month - 6:30pm - 8pm - Natick High School Auditorium

Thursday, the 16th starting at 5pm, the high school will host a K-12 art show with representative work from all 8 schools and all grades. Elementary visual art will be in the main foyer, Middle School Art is in the library, and high school art is in the high school art room ( room 145). At 6:30 pm theatre, media arts, music and perhaps more will be presented in a mix of live and recorded pieces. Additionally there may also be some ongoing events. Students 18 and under are free. There is a $2 suggested donation for anyone over 18. Visual Art Reception is from 5:00 - 6:30. Art work can still be viewed after 6:30 but from 6:30 - 9pm other events and disciplines will be presented. Please contact Steve Miller for questions at smiller@natickps.org.

Stopping the Cycle of Anger: How to Navigate Anxiety and Big Feelings with Calm and Compassion

Thursday, March 23 at 7pm via Zoom -- For parents, caregivers, educators, and community members of all ages

In this talk, author Renee Jain, MA, will offer practical, supportive techniques to address anger and other intense emotions in ourselves, our children and our teens with more understanding and less screaming. She will discuss how to uncover what's underneath these big feelings and how to empower individuals, parents, and children to shift to more positive response patterns. Just a reminder, if your child tests positive for Covid-19, they must stay home for 5 days. The day they started symptoms is Day 0, the next day is Day 1, then Day 2, etc. They may return to school on Day 6 and must wear a mask for an additional 5 days. A headache, scratchy throat, congestion/runny nose, cough, and/or fever are some of the more common symptoms of Covid-19.

Siblings and close contacts do not need to quarantine and can come to school as long as they are not having symptoms of illness. However, they must wear a mask for 10 days when around others following a Covid exposure.
