A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
It's that time Longhorns, time to finish the first semester strong! I hope you were able to spend some much needed down time with your family and friends doing things that money can't buy, because at the end of the day...the one thing we can't get back is TIME with our loved ones. Cherish every "small" moment to create memories, because life is just too short for grudges and being "too busy" to slow down long enough to enjoy the ride. Family first, at every opportunity!
Speaking of family....Longhorn Nation, you NEVER cease to amaze me. By the end of the week we had over 240 pies donated to ensure that our GR Staffamily had a little thankful gift to take home to their own family and through your continued monetary donations, PTO will now be able to help us with a December staff luncheon before break too. You are simply the best. I am so thankful for your support and for our PTO for organizing and setting this up for us! We are truly blessed with the GR-eatest community, and I promise to never take your generosity for granted!
ONE MORE TIME - Behavior Check
We have been more than generous with working around some troublesome behaviors that developed throughout this past year and a half with school not looking or feeling the same, but we have been in school long enough now to RELEARN the expectations again. The amount of time spent by our staff on these type of things during a hard year already, is stopping. We are raising the bar to back where I set it in the fall of 2019 when I was first asked to take this job, and I expect you to follow suit.
- No ID = NO PHONE USE (even at lunch) If you refuse to put them up, it's a write up.
- Phones must be put away at all times in the classrooms, unless there is an instruction purpose GIVEN by the teacher and the sign is on GREEN. If you refuse to follow this, it will be a write up.
- Ignoring teachers/staff when they are asking you to put on ID or to put your phone up will be a write up. (That's just disrespect)
- In the hallways without an ID AND a pass during class time, will be a write up. Parents- if you wonder why grades are slipping...it's their personal devices and lack of urgency to participate in class.
- Instigating, participating, or videoing an altercation (regardless of how small) will be a write up. If you are part of a fight, you will be placed at ALC.
Let me say...that you are BETTER than this, but the lack of respect (post COVID) that many are showing is not fair to the MAJORITY of our Longhorns and Staff that are here putting in the work each and every day. Do better...because you ARE better!
DON"T FORGET YOUR ID's TOMORROW!
No ID ON = No Phone/Airpods/Headphones! ID's are mandatory! No more temporaries will be issued. If you need a NEW ID/Lanyard- you can purchase them for $5 in the library from 8:00-8:15 daily! Lanyards/ID's should be on the second you step through the doors each day. Please make sure you are following this rule as well as being in dress code and to ensure that you are not written up for non compliance. This will affect your exemptions.
The front office is open Monday- Friday 8:00-4:00pm to assist you. You can also directly email us or call 832-223-4200 during the same hours. We are happy to help!
