SUNDAY MESSAGE
January 15, 2024 - January 19, 2024
Message from Mrs. Reams
Randolph Families,
I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. A reminder that we do not have school on Monday, January 15th. As we enter the second half of the school year, below are a few reminders:
- 2:15pm is the ideal time to begin lining up for car line. When you come earlier, it makes it very difficult for anyone attempting to leave our parking lot for meetings or early dismissals. We have parents arriving as early as 1:45pm. Please help us with this - thank you!
- Please be sure your child is charging their iPad each night (grades 3-5)
- Please check your lunch account balance regularly
- Don't forget to communicate your transportation changes before noon
- Don't forget to sign up to be one of our WATCH D.O.G.S. using this link: SIGN UP FOR WATCH DOGS HERE!
Thank you so very much!

PTA NEWS
We are “Stocking the Lounge” again this January to say thank you to all the RES Staff! If you would like to contribute, please drop off items in the front office between 1/22 and 1/26! Items needed include coffee, prepackaged snacks, drinks, and deposable cups/plates/utensils! Our staff greatly appreciates everything, so let’s show them how much we appreciate them!
January 25th is our Panera Bread Spirit night too! A flier will go home next week with more details, but this is a fun easy way to support our school!
Also don’t forget to join us on February 7th at 7:45 am in the library, to kick off the first PTA meeting of the 2024 school year! We hope to see you there!
New Goochland Elementary School
Families,
By now, families should have received communication regarding the opening of the new Goochland Elementary School. This communication details our new elementary zones and the process for families of rising 4th grade students (and their siblings) who wish to remain at their current school for the 24-25 school year. Below are a few important reminders:
If you are unsure if your address is zoned for the new GES for the 24-25 school year. You can find out here: https://www.myschoollocation.com/GCPS_Rec/
Per policy, when changes in attendance areas are approved by the School Board, students who are enrolled in grades kindergarten through fourth grade during the year for which changes are effective will be required to attend the school in the attendance area in which they reside and to which they are assigned. Students who are enrolled in fifth grade during the year when changes are effective may choose to continue to attend their current elementary school.
Please refer to policy JC for information related to school attendance zones and certain exceptions. The policy is linked below.
Rising 5th grade students and their siblings need to submit an out-of-zone form by February 1, 2024 indicating their intention for the 24-25 school year. Transportation will not be provided. This form is linked below.
Our elementary school principals are working together to make this transition as smooth as possible for our students and families. We will be in touch with activities, meetings and other plans to support this transition very soon!
Please feel free to reach out if you need support during this process.
Sincerely,
Melissa Reams
