Letter from the Principal
This week St. Teresa School participated in the Great Central Shake Out. Where over 2 million students practiced what to do during an earthquake drill on October 20th at 10:20!
As colder temperatures are upon us, we would like to remind everyone of a few things to ensure students continue to be successful in school if they happen to be absent.
- If your child is not feeling well and needs to miss school, please contact the office every day your child is not in attendance. This helps our office staff to keep accurate attendance of the student body.
- If you would like your child's teacher to gather their homework, please reach out to your child's teacher by 9 am through email. Teachers will then gather absent students assignments and bring it to the office around 2:30 pm.
- If you requested your child's homework to be gathered, please note that it must be picked up by 3:30 pm. Office hours are 7:30 am - 3:30 pm Monday - Friday, closed on Holidays.
We know the success of your child is essential, and we hope that this is a way to ensure their success on days they can't be with us.
Enjoy your weekend and as always we thank you for sharing your student with us. We appreciate your trust, support, and partnership
Sincerely,
Nicole Green
Principal

Stewardship Letter
Hello St. Teresa Families,
St. Teresa, like most Catholic parishes and schools, is reliant on the assistance of its community members for many functions. From volunteering at the parish picnic, to being a member of the PTO, to participating in Mass as an usher, reader, or Eucharistic minister, many graciously give much of their time to help the school and parish succeed.
Stewardship of this kind is a tenet of the Catholic Church. In order to be good stewards, we are asked to contribute our time, talent, and/or treasure to allow our parish community to be successful in both the present and the future.
Contributing our stewardship to St. Teresa is of great importance. The cost of educating each individual student exceeds our current tuition rates; however, that cost is offset by both our various fundraisers and the subsidy provided by the parish. Because the parish offers funds to the school budget, it is expected that school families are active participants and offer their stewardship to the parish.
Per page 8 of the student handbook, supporting parishioners are those who “offer a fair portion of their time, talent, and treasure to the parish and school.” Additionally, as outlined by the school board in previous school years, it is expected that school families give a suggested donation of $10 each week to the Church collection to be considered parishioners of St. Teresa. In situations where donating additional funds is a financial burden, the time and talent contributed by the family will be taken into consideration.
Because most St. Teresa families pay the parishioner tuition rate, it would be expected that families of those students meet the criteria of a supporting parishioner as defined by the definition in the previous paragraph. For the 2022 - 2023 school year, St. Teresa Parish subsidizes the cost of education by approximately $800 per student.
In previous years, the school board began the process of reviewing the parishioner status of all school families. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, it was determined that it would be best to put that process on hold given the unprecedented situation that people around the world were experiencing. Given the current circumstances, the school board and school finance council feel that it is appropriate to reevaluate the statuses of the families of all current St. Teresa students.
Additional information regarding the tracking of time and talent will be shared in the coming weeks.
If you are interested in setting up electronic giving with the Church to automate your donations, you can do so by going to the following web address:
https://www.stteresabelleville.com/electronic-giving.html
The St. Teresa School Board greatly appreciates the time and investment that all of you graciously offer St. Teresa, and we look forward to working as a community to ensure a successful future for years to come!
Inclement Weather Plan
IS SCHOOL CLOSED?
Closure of St. Teresa School will be shared FIRST on the St. Teresa School website and on official St. Teresa social media within minutes of the decision.

If District 118 is closed due to inclement weather, St. Teresa's will also be closed.
For the 2022-2023 school year there will be no "remote learning" days.
