¡FELIZ Y PRÓSPERO AÑO NUEVO!
End-of-year traditions don’t conclude with the New Year.....
In Hispanic and Latin American culture, the celebrations extend until January 6th, with the celebration of Three Kings' Day - DÃa de los Reyes Magos. While rooted in religion, this celebration holds cultural and festive significance in Hispanic and Latin American communities, focusing on children’s joy, generosity, and family togetherness.
Our students from Spanish classes levels 1 to 4 engaged in two projects brimming with the color and joy of these celebrations:
- Holiday Decorations: Spanish I, II and III Honors students created a grand tree of decorations containing vocabulary in various categories: adjectives, verbs, months of the year, colors, body parts, family, Latin countries, kind words, classroom, weather and seasons, titles of classic Christmas movies in Spanish, and Christmas around the world.
- Cultural Trees: Spanish IV Honors students researched specific traditions from various Latin countries during Christmas. Based on their findings, they chose the most striking traditions and designed ornaments representing them using Canva, thus constructing cultural trees depicting Christmas in Hispanic and Latin America.
Learning Spanish by exploring cultures and traditions is like opening doors to a vibrant world where each country has its own history, colors, flavors, and unique meanings. La Profe Berbeo and Miss K are immensely proud of the work done by all Spanish students and wish for a marvelous 2024 for the entire school and our wonderful community!
FRENCH CLUB FESTIVITIES
The French Club at Monomoy Regional High School recently embraced the holiday spirit by hosting its inaugural Crepe Party, a delightful celebration of French culinary traditions.
Students eagerly gathered in the spirit of festive camaraderie, armed with an authentic French crepe recipe. The participants embarked on the culinary journey of mixing ingredients and perfecting the art of crepe-making. Laughter and the delightful aroma of cooking filled the air as students skillfully wielded spatulas, flipping their crepes with precision.
Special recognition to Julian Menager, who mastered the art of crepe making to perfection! The event not only provided a platform for linguistic immersion but also fostered a sense of cultural appreciation. Merci à tous les participants! Vive la France!
