Centennial PTO Meeting Minutes
12 December 2023 / 6 PM / Centennial
Attendance: Jessica Anderson, Sue Lothspeich, Kayla Terry, Katie Suda, Megan Linstaedt, Sarah Matcha
Principal’s Report: NA, My Olson not available.
New Business
1. Family fun night - January 12th 6-8 pm - planning
a. Games and face painting - 8 face painters, 2 wanderers for the games, 6 BINGO, 4 concessions - ML to check what is needed and reorder. SM to reorder face paint
b. Concessions - Dominos pizza - 20 cheese, 20 pepperoni (KT), mini chip bags, mini cookie bags, candy bars variety, water cases (ML), variety of candy and 2L (KS) - $2/pizza, rest $1
c. 5, $5 Starbucks and 5, $5 Caribou cards, $100 Suite shots for black out and then 2 $25 to KingPinz - -(KT)
d. BINGO volunteer needs - 2 to sell, 1 to call and 3 to wander and check cards - MO to set up the sign ups
- Discuss additional folding chair purchase
a. At school events, there are consistently 50-100 people standing. Some elderly and disabled. With a school of nearly 600 kids, we need more seating - SM to price check chairs, shift money over from the walk-a-thon excess.
b. Arrange to have the show recorded and post a link on the Friday File?
Old Business
1. Excess funds from walk-a-thon
1. Art run/music night - chalk and paint the side walks during the spring concert night - date TBD mid-May. Run by Mrs. Hoots. She will coordinate and plan for food trucks etc.
2. Classroom & counselor “wishlists” - Staff will need to come and present to PTO meeting of their want or need and then PTO will decide which causes to support
3. Kinder shirts - - tabled for now, checking into wholesale options.
4. 5th grade yearbooks - - wait and see how many have or want
5. Maintenance fees for existing programs - ongoing
6. Bouncy houses for last week of school. Big gym - 2-3 that would fit into the large gym and this would take the place of both music and gym classes for that day - only on May 28 or 29 - KT - Games TO GO 701-271-0378
2. 5th grade party
a. Fundraising ideas:
i.January Culvers night. Will need 2 parents for each hour from 5-8pm
ii. Sucker sales
b. Planning will be done by 5th grade party planning committee at separate meeting. Sky zone last day of school. May 30th. They will be bussed over (school paid, 5th grade budget pays back). Possibly doing a pizza party on the lawn also.
3. Golden Spatula
a. Bragging rights only - - get to claim the Spatula for the month - no additional prizes to be provided
Events for 2023-2024
Restaurant fundraisers–
- Culvers - January- 25th 5th grade , March 5th, and May 16th confirmed
- February 21st? - Hi-Ho - all day fundraiser
· ML to call and see if they can accommodate that date
- April 10th - Chipotle? KT to call and see if that is an option
Snack drives –
- Set up Amazon wishlist again so that they can order direct to the school — through the Friday File and FB page. Seems to be same families and staff donating repeatedly, try this option to see if we can bridge that gap to other possible donations
- Winter restock the classroom supplies drive - could also potentially be an Amazon wishlist?
- Spring - Spring into snacks
- Ongoing snack and staff donations coming in to the school without continued promotion
Skate City - February 8th 6-8pm confirmed - if over 100 skaters, Skate City will DOUBLE what they give back to us - need to promote this more so that people are aware of the additional fundraising opportunity
Craft/Art night - Mid May - Art /music night - chalk and paint the side walks during the spring concert night.
Spring Carnival - April 5th - 6-8 pm - Bounce houses - Games to Go, face painting, mini putt-putt? magic show? ML to check with balloon man
Teacher appreciation - May 6-10th - ideas?
