Support the Class of 2026 by buying cookie dough from Rebecca's Nut-Free! Right in time for the holidays, you can easily bake the pre-made dough at home. All cookie dough boxes are Nut-Free and there are many options to accomodate for gluten, diary, egg, and soy allergies!

Each box costs $25 and contain 24-36 cookies depending on kit.

Orders will be available for pick-up on December 18th, and home delivery options are available too.

Looking for an after school job? Did you know that HHS has a Job Board with postings of local businesses looking for help?

The board is located just past the cafeteria on the right. There are listings for banks, daycares, businesses, etc. Postings are constantly being added. Take a look at the board if you are looking for extra cash!

Juniors & Seniors-

Here is a list of colleges coming to visit in the next few weeks. This is a great opportunity to meet with college admissions officers (often the person reading your application) and ask questions you may have about the school and gain valuable information from the rep.

Please go to your Naviance Student Account to register or see the entire list of colleges coming this fall. Remember, you must get permission from your teacher if you are missing a class. It will be up to you to make up any missed work.

All college visits will be held in the Counseling Office.

This week the Diversity Club held a bake sale, "A Sweet Taste of the Middle East" to raise money for local non-profit organizations that support diversity issues. The sale was the brainchild of Junior, Ayah Kurdi. Ayah and her very generous mom and aunt, baked last Saturday, and all day Sunday, followed by beautifully packaging each item with the help of Anna Noroian. The fundraiser raised over $500 !!! We are so grateful to everyone who purchased sweets to support us, to Ayah and her family, and to the Diversity Club members who helped sponsor this event.

On October 21st, Hopkinton High School hosted the Mayflower Cup II Academic Quiz Bowl Tournament. Sophomores Abhishek Vijay, Jacob Dold, Ishan Ramesh, Alexander Stephan and Pranamya Keshkamat represented Hopkinton in the tournament, and the team finished 5th out of 22 teams in Massachusetts. In individual rankings Abhishek Vijay finished in 5th place out of 90 places. A special thanks to Mr. Challinor for making this event possible.

On Nov 4th, the Hopkinton NAQT team competed in Maine Quiz Bowl Alliance Fall invitational tournament held at Cony High School in Augusta, ME. Hopkinton finished in first place and qualified for the National Quiz Bowl Championship Tournament, which will be held in Atlanta from May 24 to May 26. Sophomores Abhishek Vijay and Ishan Ramesh finished within the top 5 individual rankings.

Hi everybody! We wanted to let you know about a volunteering opportunity, the Fall Leaf Raking Fundraiser organized by Project Just Because. More information is available on the sign-up sheet linked here. Make sure to add all the dates and times you are free. If you would like, you can also sign up to volunteer with your friends! We will reach out to you about a week in advance with details when we need volunteers. You will be working with a group of PJB student board members, and this will count for volunteer hours. Environmental Action Club is collecting single-use plastic bags!

We need to collect 1000lbs of plastic BAGS to receive a free bench! Place your emptied and clean plastic ziplock, bubblewrap, shopping bags, cereal bags, produce bags... in one of our 3 bins (Foyer & Library).

The Office of Massachusetts State Representative James Arena-DeRosa is seeking highly motivated individuals to apply to the summer internship program at the State House.

Ideal candidates are organized, professional, and responsible individuals that thrive in a fast-paced work environment. An unpaid internship at the State House is a wonderful opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of Beacon Hill and the legislative process. During their term, interns are encouraged to attend briefings, committee hearings, and lectures of personal interest.

Internships are available on a full or part time basis for the Summer of 2024. Internships will generally begin in May and end in August but are flexible depending on an individual’s circumstances. Interns typically work 3 days a week, Tuesday through Thursday.

WST is a program for high school girls in order to help increase exposure to STEM fields. The program takes place on Boston College's campus and is led by undergraduate students with various STEM majors. Each Saturday for one month, selected high school students will perform experiments, listen to talks from professionals (including one from Dr. O'Day, the founder of WST), go on campus tours, make mentor-mentee connections, and more! The dates for this year's 2024 program are January 20, January 27, February 3, and February 10 and runs from 10AM-3PM. The program will conclude with a banquet where the students can share what they have learned with family and friends.

There is no cost for attendance. However, spots are limited to around ~50 students. Those who have not participated in WST before will be prioritized.

Interest Survey for Sports Med Internship 2024-2025:

If you intend to apply for the sports medicine internship for the 2024-2025 school year you should complete this survey! We are trying to get an idea of how many students might be interested in doing the Sports Med internship next year. THIS IS NOT AN APPLICATION. More information about how to formally apply will be shared in the student memo this spring. Current seniors are also invited to complete the survey and share their thoughts.

MORE ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP: An internship with the HHS athletic trainer, Amanda Magier, is a rewarding and exciting opportunity for any student looking to explore the fields of healthcare, athletics, or education.

Athletic trainers are health care professionals who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries and illnesses. We prevent and treat chronic musculoskeletal injuries from sports, physical and occupational activity, and provide immediate care for acute injuries. Athletic trainers offer a continuum of care that is unparalleled in health care. As an intern you would be responsible for assisting me with a variety of important tasks that help me do my job, while gaining knowledge and experience in the field of sports medicine.

The time commitment for this internship is approximately 5-10 hours per week (1-2 hours each day between the hours of 2:25-6:30pm). Additionally, you must maintain passing grades in all of your other classes or you will be suspended from doing this internship until your grades improve.

The Hopkinton Lions Club is holding its annual Youth Speech Contest on Monday, December 4. This year's topic is "With Which Historical Figure Would You Most Like to Speak?" The contest is open to students in grades 9-12 and lives in Hopkinton. The 1st place winner will be awarded $200 and the runner-up will receive $100.

SHOE DRIVE!

Evan Fitzpatrick, a HHS Junior, is a Global Ambassador for Soles4Souls, one of the top-rated non-profits in the US. Soles4Souls is focused on making a measurable impact in our world providing shoes and textiles directly to those in need. In addition to their work in developing nations and with homelessness in our country, Soles4Souls is actively providing disaster relief to Ukrainian refugees.

So far our community has donated nearly 3,000 pairs of shoes for Ukrainian refugees! The need is still great and the Russo-Ukrainian War is ongoing. There will be collection boxes at every Hopkinton Public School until Thanksgiving and at the Hopkinton Public Library until Halloween.

Soles4Souls is accepting new or gently used shoe donations of any kind, and any size. Shoes should be bound together, if possible. Soles4Souls accepts single shoes for amputees as well. (There are many.) Shoes may have small blemishes that will be professionally mended. THANK YOU!
