Good Afternoon Wolf Pack Families,
Feliz Mes de las Herencia Hispana and Happy Rosh Hashanah. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15-Oct 15) and Happy Jewish New Year to those who observe.
We did it! Our staff and students made it through their first five day week of school!!! It has been a really great week. Fall sports began, students were fully immersed into content curriculum and we have had exceptional behavior overall.
Next week is BUSY! Our school will be hosting our 8th Grade DC Meeting/Curriculum Night on September 20. Students will take their iReady Diagnostics in ELA and Math on September 19/20. Please speak to your child about the importance of giving their best effort. On September 21, students will have a 1/2 day while our GMS staff completes Professional Development working on the District Goal of improving comprehension when reading informational text.
Wishing you all a great weekend!

iReady Diagnostic
On September 19 and 20 our entire school will be taking their first of three iReady Diagnostics in ELA and Math this school year. iReady Diagnostics are used for two purposes: iReady results help to determine how our teaching staff can guide their instruction to help all students in remediation, pace of current content or enrichment opportunities. iReady uses the results from your student's answers to create lessons specifically designed for each child in order to improve their math and reading skills. It is VERY important that all students attend on both days and give their best effort.
It is critical that students charge their laptops the night before each Diagnostic
Students should get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast
On Tuesday, September 19, students should bring headphones that connect to their laptop device
Please have your child arrive to school on time each day
Please speak to your student about giving their best effort on both Diagnostics.

Sports Update
Our Fall sports are off to a great start! Volleyball competed in their first match against Oak Valley MS. Both teams fought hard, but came up short. We’re proud of our athletes. They will compete against Pierce MS on September 18th at home. Come out and cheer our athletes on if you can.
Cross Country is also off to a great start. The team competed this week against Mason MS. The boys finished strong and won taking first through 9th places. The girls also competed well, but came up short. They will compete on September 19th away at Mason MS.
We look forward to a great Fall sports season. We encourage fans to come out and support our student athletes, however, students must be accompanied by an adult and they must follow the same behavior expectations outlined in our student code of conduct and Geisler Way Matrix. We hope to see you at our home events this week. Go Wolves!

8th Grade Washington DC Trip
SAVE THE DATE! Our annual 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C. will be held April 30 to May 4, 2024. 8th grade families interested in attending the DC trip should plan on joining us for our Informational Parent Meeting on Wednesday, September 20 at 5:45pm in the GMS Learning Commons, just prior to the Curriculum Night class sessions. We will have our tour representative from Corporate Travel on hand to share trip information, how to register, and answer any questions about the trip.
To help offset the cost of the DC trip, all GMS students are encouraged to participate in our first fundraiser of the year. Information, along with catalogs and order forms, went home this week in social studies classes. Additional packets can be picked up in front of the attendance office. Please click here to read an informational flyer on the fundraiser. Families are able to create an account for their student so the link can be shared with friends and family members across the country. Money collected will go towards their individual DC trip account. 6th & 7th grade students will have their funds saved until they reach 8th grade. The fundraiser is now open and runs until Friday, September 22. Order pick up will be on October 24 at GMS.
Please reach out to Mr. Yu at TorryYu@wlcsd.org for questions about the DC trip.
