Message from Superintendent Mike Johnson
What a fun week it has been in Creswell School District. With autumn's arrival, our elementary students met their new Mighty Mustang mascot, our students and staff at CMS continue to display their creativity during Wednesday electives, and our CHS Bulldogs enjoyed an assembly at Markley Field.
As school volunteers visit the district office to complete paperwork, I am reminded and moved by this community's commitment to create a safe and nurturing environment for students and staff. Whether supporting a team or activity, asking a student to share what they learned during the day, or driving safely as children are biking or walking to school, each of us can make an impact and help Creswell's children flourish.
So many books to choose from!

OHA Face Covering Definition
According to Oregon Health Authority, the definition of face covering means a cloth, polypropylene, paper, or other face covering that covers the nose and the mouth and that rests snugly above the nose, below the mouth, and on the sides of the face.
The following are NOT face coverings because they allow droplets to be released:
- A covering that incorporates a valve that is designed to facilitate easy exhalation
- Mesh masks
- Lace masks
- Other face coverings with openings, holes, visible gaps in the design or material, or vents
State rules govern the wearing of face coverings in schools and on public transportation, both indoors and outdoors when physical distancing can't be maintained.
New Bus Route Added
To help promote physical distancing among students eligible to ride the bus, CSD added an additional bus route this week. Oregon Administrative Rule 581-023-0040 sets the distance for home-to-school transportation eligibility at both the elementary and secondary school levels. We are so thankful for our transportation staff and appreciate all they do each day!

With students back in class, school routes are everywhere. Thanks for slowing down, eliminating distractions, watching for pedestrians and bicyclists, and obeying traffic laws when passing bus stops and driving through neighborhoods and school zones. Together, we can help keep students safe.
