Term 3 is a go!
Message from the principal
Dear Students, Staff, and Esteemed School Community,
I trust this message finds you well and that you had a delightful holiday break. As we approach the commencement of Term 3, I am pleased to share some positive developments aimed at enhancing the overall experience for our school community.
Throughout Term 2, we observed that inclement weather made the courtyard inconvenient for parents during drop-off and pick-up times. The challenges faced during rainy weather prompted us to explore alternative methods. I am pleased to inform you that over the holiday period, we took proactive measures to address this issue.
A new driveway has been paved in the courtyard, offering a solution that ensures a smoother and more convenient experience for parents during adverse weather conditions. This improvement will significantly reduce the impact of inclement weather on the daily routines of dropping off and picking up your children by car.
As we approach the end of the school year, I want to express my gratitude for your ongoing support and cooperation. Working together as a community has allowed us to make these positive changes, and I am confident that it will contribute to a more seamless and enjoyable experience for all.
Let us embark on Term 3 with enthusiasm and commitment, making it a great conclusion to the school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.
Wishing you a fantastic Term 3 ahead!
Warm regards,
Ali Kara

Clothing drive and earthquake aid
Dear parents and caregivers
We are Aleyna (G9) and Joanna (G8) at Abroad International School. We hope you had a great winter break! Previously, we sent an email before the break regarding a clothing drive donation we are planning on organizing for our community project. The clothes we gather will be donated to a JRCC (Japan Relief Clothing Center). JRCC is a certified NPO (non-profit organization) that conducts support activities for victims affected by natural disasters all around the world. During the winter break, we hope you were able to gather some clothes you are willing to donate, however, there are some conditions to which the clothes should apply. Please look at the attached PDF to find out more and clearly understand what sorts of clothes are acceptable and unacceptable. Please ensure that the clothes you donate do NOT have holes, stains, or scratches.
We will organize this clothing drive starting from next week on January 16th till the 23rd. We unfortunately had to change the initial dates we had planned due to the time frame. The donation boxes will be available to find at the first-floor main entrance. Please take a look and donate some clothes to help those in need!
Additionally, as you may already be aware, an earthquake recently hit Ishikawa prefecture and destroyed thousands of homes on January 1st. According to the authorities, there are currently over 28,000 people living in about 400 shelters across Ishikawa Prefecture and needing our help. To show our support, we will be raising money and food for the victims staying at those shelters. On Japanese Culture Day, we will be organizing money donations and a canned food drive. These items will then be delivered to the Ikuno Ward which is currently sending help to the Ishikawa prefecture. The Ikuno Ward will make sure to send all items directly to areas in need. The donation boxes for support money and the canned food drive will be displayed at the front entrance during session 1, and at the gym during session 2 and 3. If you have time, please come and donate to help those in need.
集まった衣類はJRCC(日本救援衣料センター)に寄付されます。
Thank you for your time and understanding,

Bridge from your heart to orphan kids heart
Dear AIS Parents,
Hello, I am Noah from G7. I would first like to thank all of the parents for their cooperation for the Second-Hand shop held at ICF. We were able to raise 23,170 yen to help save coral reefs. We have given the money to a representative of the PADI AWARE Foundation.
At first, we had planned to give the items from the Second Hand shop that weren’t sold, to an orphanage. However, I thought that it would be better if the orphanage received new and unused items. That is why I would like to ask the help of the parents to help me buy the gifts.
I have planned to give gifts to children at the Tashimadouen orphanage, located in the Ikuno Ward. There are a total of 47 children from the range of 2-18 that live at this orphanage.
Since we don’t know the dislikes and likes of the children at the orphanage, I thought it would be best if we gave them stationary. I would like the parents to make a set of stationery. A nice and colorful pencil case. With pens, pencils, erasers, and whatever you think will help the children learn.
I would like to collect the sets of stationary on Japanese Culture Day. The table below is an example of what you could buy for the set of stationary.
