Routines

Our students are quickly falling into the routines of school. They are arriving on time and in dress code. Almost all of them have their MacBooks and are actively learning in classes.


We do need your help with a couple of things:

1. Social Media: we need them to realize being mean is being mean. Social media isn't a free pass to be mean to others.

2. Conflict: if your student is having trouble with another student, have them talk to someone. They can talk to a trusted teacher, a counselor, or any adult in the building. We will go through peer mediation and teach our students how to handle conflict. There is no need for punching, tripping, pulling hair, or any other physical acts that hurt others.

3. Restrooms: they are the grossest place to hang out. And yet, some students want to go to the restroom during every class and at lunch. There are better places to be...like the library!

No vaping

It is now a mandatory punishment for students with vapes at school. Please talk to your student about the harmful effects of vaping and the mandatory discipline they will receive.

Drawstring backpacks only!

The school will begin confiscating larger backpacks and giving students either a drawstring backpack or a technology briefcase.

The students do not need large backpacks as they only need their charged MacBooks, a pencil, and paper for school. We will provide everything else.

Students learn better without distractions!

William James MS is a No Cell Phone Zone!


We have confiscated a lot of phones lately. Please stress to your child that they DO NOT NEED their phones in class. If they come to school with a phone, they need to power it off when they arrive and leave it that way all day.


If you need to talk with your child during the day, please call the front office. We would be happy to deliver your message or have them call you back.

School start time is 9 am. Please have your child here by 8:45 am to eat breakfast and be ready for class to begin at 9.
