FPCS' New Vision and Mission Statements
Vision: Partnering with families to support all students.
Strategic Planning Day!
Using the feedback from our strategic planning survey, the FPCS staff and members from our Academic Advisory Committee (AAC) worked with Timi Tullis, from the Alaska Association of School Boards (AASB), to craft a new vision and mission statement and begin the process of creating a new strategic plan. Our school's updated strategic plan is actively in progress and will be completed no later than the end of June.
The rental ticket will be available at the Spenard Play it Again Sports on 2/15
High Schoolers - Have You Considered Taking a Gap Year After Graduation?
Former FPCS student, Owen Nordstrom, participated in the Vanguard gap year program at HoneyRock, the Center for Leadership Development of Wheaton College. This eight-month residential program is designed to prepare students to be more effective and better equipped to manage the rigors of college, a career, and life in general. It offers a balance of academics, vocational training, outdoor adventure, service, spiritual development, and community living. Older students enrolled in the college’s Outdoor Adventure Leadership graduate program mentor and guide the gap year students learning to live independently in a community, while studying and serving alongside each other.
Students hike, bike, canoe, ski, and camp throughout the Northwoods to practice their outdoor skills in the unique beauty of the region. They work in a coffee shop, repair buildings, prepare meals, tend horses, and manage visiting campers to gain vocational skills and serve the campus community. They take trips to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for a backpacking adventure, southern Wisconsin for a rock climbing class, and the Chicagoland area and Mississippi (or Costa Rica) to assist local ministries. The variety of experiences provides students a broader perspective on the opportunities for learning and growth, setting them on a trajectory to pursue a meaningful life in school and beyond.
