Principal's Message
08/01/2022
As principal of West High School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another exciting year! We are ready to have students back to walk the traditional first day of school Red Carpet Walk. We can't wait for the air to be filled with our student's energy and enthusiasm. The new school year brings about a new start and opportunities for student success. We have some great things in store for this school year! Our goal is that all our students feel welcome, find connections, and engage in a rigorous learning environment. We have hard-working teachers who spend time creating meaningful lessons for our students. In the classroom, we continue to focus on the integration of STE(A)M into our learning. There is an emphasis on use of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math across all curriculum content areas.
Please join me in welcoming our Assistant Principal, Dr. Michael Stagnaro. Dr. Stagnaro was previously at West High and moved to Bohn Elementary School last school year. He has returned to the Wolf Pack Family, and we are appreciative of the knowledge and experience he brings to this position.
We have resources available here on campus to ensure that all students can find support for academic and emotional needs. Our goal is to build a partnership with our families at home to give all our students the opportunity to achieve high levels of learning. We ask that you encourage your student to find something on campus to connect to - whether it be a sport, activity, or club. Students that feel connected to school do better overall, and it's good to build relationships and create memories that last their lifetime. We will be having Club Rush Week the second week of school. This is the time to have your student sign up for a club or activity that they are interested in!
Registration is this week on Tuesday and Thursday (see schedule by class). You must have the printed and signed emergency card and finish online data confirmation on the AERIES Parent Portal. Here is the link to the portal. https://tracyusd.aeries.net/student/LoginParent.aspx
During registration, counselors will be available in the cafeteria to aid any students who have errors in their schedule. Unfortunately, changes outside of errors in the schedule cannot be accommodated.
If students do not attend registration, they will still need to bring the SIGNED form to the office on the first day of school to obtain their schedule. They will be asked to contact home if the signed Emergency Form is not completed and received.
For those of you that have started school shopping for clothes, please look over the dress code in the Student Handbook (p.34). The expectation is "that all students will dress in a way that is appropriate for the school day or for any school sponsored event."
Reminder to parents that are coming on campus, you must check in and obtain a visitor's badge. This ensures that our campus remains secure and identifies any unsolicited guests.
Last but not least, we have a different bell schedule this year. We being school at 8:30 and dismiss at 3:40. Our Early Release Day is now on Wednesday at 2:15. Here is the link to our website with the new bell schedule.
Thank you again, families, for sharing your student with us! We are looking forward to a productive, exciting year!
