On May 11, 2023, the federal government declared the COVID-19 public health emergency to be over. In this light, Franklin County Public Health has rescinded the Franklin County COVID-19 public health emergency. This update ended school districts’ obligation to contact trace and report COVID positive cases within the community.

FCPH and CDC guidance remains as follows: “After testing positive, you should stay home for 5 days regardless of vaccination status. After 5 days, you may end isolation if you are fever-free for 24 hours (without use of fever-reducing medicine) AND your symptoms are improving.”

Parent Teacher Conferences are right around the corner! Please use the following links to sign up. The dates are 9/20, 9/26 & 9/28. If all spots become full, please call the office to be placed on a wait list! IF you need to cancel, please do so asap so we may accommodate others. 6th Grade only has a few open slots in the link on 9/28

Hello South Fam!

Today we were honored to host the positive-message band AttaBoy! The band was lively, had a great message about making positive change in our world, and rocked the house! We had student [and staff!] dance-offs as well. We encourage you to ask your student[s] about the message and their thoughts!

September's theme at GMSS is Kindness! We will be working with students through lessons and activities to promote kindness!

ROX

We are excited to introduce Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX) to our 7th grade girls! ROX is an evidence-based female empowerment group that focuses on leadership skills, healthy friendships, assertive communication, body image, social media and academic success. The course is a 20-week program that will take place in a small group setting once a week during lunch beginning mid-October. For more information, check out the links below:

We believe every girl benefits from the ROX program and will do our best to accommodate those wishing to participate. If we have more girls interested than space allows, we will select girls via lottery. In an effort to expose as many of our female students to this program as possible, those who have already completed the ROX program in elementary school are not eligible to participate a 2nd time. If your 7th grade daughter is interested in going through the ROX program, please email Ms. Lubinski (lubinskij@gjps.org) and/or Mrs. Johnson (johnsona@gjps.org) no later than next Friday, 9/21.
