REGIONAL TOUR DATES & LOCATIONS AND THE BREAKOUT OF THE REGIONAL STATES
Ten Years in the Making- Dedication of Past President Mitch Huber's Project
Whether rain or snow the Children of the American Revolution can be found serving their communities, honoring our veterans, or absorbing the history of these United States of America. November 22, 2023, was one of those days. Members, seniors and guests gathered on this chilly morning to formally recognize the 2013-2014 State President’s project – WWII Legacy Memorial commemorative brick reveal. Honorary State President and past national officer, Mitch Huber, was on hand to present along with Parker and Macie Hagle, State 1st Vice President and State Chaplain respectively.
How did this become a Michigan Society C.A.R. State President’s project? It was a Sunday morning radio show in April 2013 where incoming State President Mitch Huber heard Debi Hollis speak about the Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial. Once we contacted and met with her - the rest was history. Not only did the State President visit the proposed location in Royal Oak, but he also had the opporutnity to meet the artist who designed and completed the clay models for the sculptures. These sculptures reflected the stories of those who served including how the youth in Michigan supported the war efforts. It was an amazing project for the young members to share across the state to patriotic and community organizations recognizing Michigan’s contribution to WWII.
With the first phase of the memorial completed and celebrated in August of 2023, Mitch was not able to participate. The C.A.R. members and seniors planned a small ceremony when he would be back in Michigan to do an official ‘reveal’ of the brick the state society purchased through fundraising efforts along with many others who purchased over the course of the past decade. Mitch continued to stay in touch with Debi Hollis, who continues to serve on the Board of Directors and was very pleased and honored to have both the current Board President John Maten and Ms. Hollis in attendance for the ceremony.
In attendance included members of the Michigan State Society including Vice President Parker Hagle, and State Chaplain – Macie Hagle, Honorary DAR State Regent-Gina LaCroix, Oaks Chapter President – Robert Huber, Honorary Senior State Presidents’ Laurie Huber Teresa Jones, Sr. State President-Deb Rakoczy, Ezra Parker Board member – Joyce Barnett, The Detroit Chapter member – Emma Huber, SAR members – Tim LeMarbe.
Mitch and his family wish to express their sincere appreciation for the Michigan State C.A.R. Society, volunteers, and work of the WWII Legacy Memorial for allowing us to be a part of honoring our veterans.

AMERICAN HERITAGE CHAIR - MASON LOWE
Mason Lowe - American Heritage
In early December my family and I went to Frankenmuth Michigan for Wreaths Across America. While we were laying wreaths a man came up to my dad and asked him to lay one on his fathers grave. While talking with him he told us all about the cemetery and how many veterans were there and how many they were expanding to. He also taught us how sometimes there are two names on a stone, one on the front and one on the back. The name on the front is always the veteran and on the back is the spouse. While we were there we also had family time at Bronnors Christmas shop and spent time at the water park.

The Michigan Society Children of the American Revolution had a state meeting on Saturday, October 28th 2023. On this lovely morning, we first met at The Michigan's Hero Museum in Frankenmuth Michigan to start off the day. When we were there, we did a scavenger hunt while we explored and learned about all different types of hero’s. As we were finishing at the museum, we took some awesome photos by the tank in front of the museum. When we had finished taking photos we all made our way to The Porkchop Room at Slo Bones BBQ, for lunch and held our state board meeting as well as keeping up with the national project. As the meeting concluded each person got a bag with tree saplings and milkweed to take home to plant.
To conclude the day we all met up at the Weiss Centennial Farm and went on a hayride followed up by the corn maze. State President Rodney Modell, Vice President Parker Hagle, Chaplain Macie Hagle, and as well as Parker and Macie’s grandfather, Tim LeMarbe all went together in the corn maze and had so much fun spending time together and getting to know one another. At the end of all the fun we took some last final pictures to remember all the fun we had that day. After the pictures we all said goodbye and headed on our way. This was the state meeting of Saturday, October 28th 2023.
We attended the DAR/C.A.R. meeting Lydia Barnes Potter invites Elias Cady Society! Lots of fun by all! We tied lap quilts that Regent Gina and C.A.R. members Parker and Macie delivered to veterans at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit! Thanks Lydia Barnes Potter Chapter for the nice welcome to all!!
Elias cady society attended a joint DAR/C.A.R. meeting with Sarah Ann Cochrane Chapter & Lexington Alarm Society at the Plymouth Library! The group made doggie pull toys by braiding fleece material. We had four members from two families, the Malott family and Hagle family. Deb Rakoczy was there too! What a large group! Thanks Erin Wysocki Kostun for allowing us to help with your event!

Naya, the KKMS Kids Helping Kids Chair led the Society’s winter service project to the Ronald McDonald House in Grand Rapids. We donated comfort supplies and over 15 pounds of poptabs; the aluminum will be sold and used to help pay the utility bills, ensuring that the House will be a warm and bright refuge for families of hospitalized children. We also decorated treat bags and prepared some treats for the families - a chocolate cherry cake, a pasta salad, and chocolate-free “puppy chow.” After lunch, we visited the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum, where Naya engaged the gang in a scavenger hunt. Great emerging leadership, Naya! No wonder the Society elected you as its next Vice President! BONUS: Ester, our newest member, became a life member at today’s meeting!

DAR and Dog Toys
By Claire K, age 12
On January 15, 2024, Lexington Alarm Society and Sarah Ann Cochrane Chapter, NSDAR, hosted a joint meeting in Plymouth, Michigan. It was extremely cold, so we were happy to have a good turnout, including friends from Elias Cady Society, some of their Seniors, our Senior State President, Mrs. Rakoczy, and even some prospective members!
We followed the DAR and C.A.R. rituals to begin the meeting. After Sarah Ann Cochrane conducted a short business meeting, my brother, Andrew, and I presented information about both the National Project and the Michigan State Project to the group.
After our presentation, we did a service project for the Michigan State Project. Members brought fleece and old cotton shirts to the meeting, mostly pre-cut into strips. We followed a tutorial we found online to braid the strips together to create dog pull toys. We hoped to make about 25 toys during the meeting, but we exceeded our goal and made 95!
The dog toys are going to be donated to Veteran Service Dogs, an organization in Howell, Michigan, which trains both service dogs and their veterans. The dogs assist with disabilities such as PTSD, TBI, Panic Disorders, Physical Disabilities, Bipolar Disorder, Seizures, Diabetes, and many more. They also help to restore hope for the veterans and improve sleep, have greater community participation and physical activity, protect from suicidal thinking and behavior, and decrease reliance on medications for mental and physical health.
Lexington Alarm members Michael H., Michael W., Presley W., Claire K., Charlie K., Andrew K., and Trent T., and their Seniors; Elias Cady members Lincoln M., Ella M., Parker H., and Macie H., and their seniors; as well Senior State President Mrs. Rakoczy.
Andrew K. and Presley W. during the C.A.R. Ritual
Andrew K. and Claire K. presented about the National and State of Michigan Projects, while Charlie K. helped with the slide presentation.
Michael H. and Trent T. worked alongside Sarah Ann Cochrane members to braid strips of fleece together to make the dog toys.
95 completed dog toys!
