Welcome back, students and families! We hope everyone had a healthy, safe, and relaxing winter break.

I would like to share some important upcoming dates: Semester 1 will end on January 25th. Students will not have school on January 26th as it is a Grading and Reporting Day for staff. In addition, January 27th is a Staff Development day. Students will not have school on these days.

Course registration is coming up for the 2023-2024 school year! In preparation for registration, please join us in the Fridley High School Auditorium on Wednesday, January 11th, at 6:30pm, to learn more about concurrent enrollment, articulated courses, PSEO, IB/DP programming, and more! Please note: attendance is required for students interested in PSEO next year.

February 3rd - Family Movie Sing-A-Long Night featuring Disney's "Mulan” and sponsored by the Fridley Concert Choir!

Please remind your scholar to charge their Chromebook every night.

Expert tip - set it next to the backpack so they can easily put it in their school backpack on the way out the door. Chromebooks are used DAILY in classes. If your child has lost their charger, please contact the school.

Please join us in the Fridley High School Auditorium on Wednesday, January 11th at 6:30pm to learn more about concurrent enrollment, articulated courses, PSEO, IB/DP programming, and more! This informational meeting for students entering 10th, 11th, and 12th grades for the 2023-2024 school year will be super helpful if your student is considering any of these options for the upcoming school year. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend with their student.

Any students who are interested in PSEO for the 2023/2024 school year must attend the Earn College Credit at Fridley High School Information Night. Students must be on track to graduate and should have a GPA of at least 3.5 if they are in 11th grade at 3.0 if they are in 12th grade. More information will be shared at this mandatory meeting - save the date!

The FHS ACT Prep Course will begin January 31! Although many colleges are waiving testing requirements amid COVID-19, ACT scores are a great way to qualify for and receive scholarships. We will meet after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15- 4:15. Through 12 hours of instruction, we will cover subject-specific strategies and content along with tips for how to succeed on a timed test. Register for this awesome opportunity with this simple form!

The Personal Project is in full swing, and we are excited to celebrate the hard work of these students on Wednesday, January 18 from 3:30 - 5:oopm at Fridley High School in the media center and hallway. Students will demonstrate their approaches to learning skills of self-management, research, communication, critical and creative thinking, and collaboration. To finalize their project, they will show the results of the goal they set for themselves and reflect on their project in a report starting in Semester 2 that will be assessed by their supervisor and the IB.

Congratulations to these students for being recognized this month by their teachers for their incredible contributions to the learning environment and school community. These students demonstrate responsibility, respect, and realness in their classes at FHS. Way to go!

Graduation is coming! This year's commencement ceremony will take place on our very own Fridley High School Football Field!

We have started collecting the senior participation fee for any senior wishing to participate in the commencement ceremony on Thursday, June 1st at 7pm. If you are a parent/guardian of a 12th grader and have not paid this fee, please submit your $40.00 graduation fee to Fatima Alnizami in the main office as soon as possible.

Fridley Public Schools uses a variety of digital tools to support student learning. Depending upon the particular educational technology being used, our district may need to collect different types of student data, which is then shared with educational technology vendors through their online sites, services, and/or applications. Under Minnesota’s Student Data Privacy Act, educational technology vendors are prohibited from selling or renting a student's information or from engaging in targeted advertising using a student's information. Such vendors may only disclose student data for K-12 school purposes and other limited purposes permitted under the law. This act also requires districts to provide timely notice of the tool used, data collected, and contact information.

Download a spreadsheet that catalogs the full library of evaluated resources. If you have any questions or concerns about any digital resources used by your child, please contact your child’s teacher.

Completion and submission of this form is required for all students prior to checking out a chromebook for usage during the school year.

Thank you to all students who have been eating breakfast and lunch with us. It has been our pleasure to serve you. We are looking for menu feedback from our families and students. If you have menu suggestions, please contact Katie Joyce at 763-502-5028 or katherine.joyce@fridley.k12.mn.us . During January students will have some Minnesota grown greens from Revol in Medford, Minnesota. Please watch the menu for those days. We will also be celebrating Chinese New Year; Tuesday, January 24. We will be serving an Asian Noodle Bowl at all schools that day.

Please remember to check your student's lunch account for purchases and adding lunch money to their account. If your child is bringing a cold lunch and would like a milk, remember the milk is not free even if your child is approved for free/reduced priced meals. Money can be added via the Campus Parent Portal using a credit or debit card. Check or cash can be added by turning money into your school's front office.

If your income has changed, remember that the Application for Educational Benefits can be completed at any time during the school year. The application can be found on the Nutritional Services webpage at https://www.fridleyschools.org/about-us/departments/nutritional-services/meal-applications If you have any questions regarding the Application for Educational Benefits, please contact Kathy Backstrom at 763-502-5021

January menus are posted on the Nutritional Services website. You can find a monthly pdf to print or you can see the interactive Titan menu. Please note, menus are subject to change due to supply chain issues and product availability.

Middle and High School students will need to have their bar code card, student id, picture of their bar code or the bar code on the Campus Student App at the cashier station.

For the 2022-23 school year all students eligible for transportation MUST request by this form: https://www.fridleyschools.org/-us/departments/transportation

If we do not receive a form, your student will not be assigned to a bus. This process is new this year due to the driver shortage. Please submit the form as soon as possible to ensure your student(s) has a bus stop assigned.

Please read the documents below for our updated practices for maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment in Fridley Public Schools for the 2022-2023 school year.

With seasonal flu, RSV, and other respiratory illnesses on the rise, remember to keep your students home when they have a fever of 100 degrees or higher, are throwing up, have diarrhea, or are generally not feeling well. Please teach your kids how and when to wash hands with soap and water, cover their cough, and how and when to use hand sanitizer, to help decrease the spreading of germs.

Don't want to miss an announcement from us, or want to be alerted if your child is absent from class, as well as stay up to date on their coursework? Complete your Campus Parent Portal account. The Parent Portal is designed specifically for parents, providing school information at your fingertips with real-time access to announcements, attendance, assignments, Transportation, grades (if applicable), schedules and more. Parents can view all children they are assigned as guardian to and that are currently enrolled in Fridley Public Schools, grades PreK 12. Each parent/legal guardian should create their own account for their children.
