Winter Athletic Information
Dear Coaches, Players, Parents and Guardians,
Winter sports will begin in November for Girls Basketball and Wrestling. Boys Basketball will
begin in December. Coaches will be providing more information to students prior to tryouts
and practices.
● Depending on the sport and the number of students interested, tryouts may take place
before practices begin.
● Practices will be held each day after school (weather permitting).
● Coaches will announce practice times and distribute schedules to teams once practices
begin.
● PIAA physicals (must dated after June 1, 2023) must be uploaded into Family ID for
your son/daughter to continue to participate in winter sports. If a student is interested

❤️ Red Ribbon Week ❤️
Red Ribbon Week runs from October 23 through October 31. The 2023 national Red Ribbon Week theme is "Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug-Free.” This week marks the occasion when schools across the country focus their attention on drug use and prevention among school-aged children. National Red Ribbon Week began in 1988 with a Congressional Proclamation. This week is dedicated to Federal Drug Enforcement agent Enrique Camerena who was killed by a drug trafficker in 1985. National Red Ribbon Week has become a symbol for a drug-free society.
Red Ribbon Week is celebrated by over 100,000 schools and organizations nationwide. Each day an announcement will be made reminding us of Fugett Middle School’s commitment to be drug-free. Part of the announcement will include a statistic or fact regarding drug or alcohol use.
Fugett will have special Red Ribbon Week themes each day. The Red Ribbon Week committee encourages all the students and staff to dress in the theme of the day.

6th Grade Intramural Soccer
We are looking forward to a great few weeks with you! Co-ed intramurals will be fun and a great learning experience. We will be learning proper stretching and training techniques, running drills, skill drills, positioning, scrimmaging, sportsmanship, and teamwork!
We will be holding practice after school from 2:15 – 4:30 pm according to the attached schedule. We will be playing either at the fields on Paoli Pike or the Price Fields across Ellis Lane. Please make sure that your ride is here promptly! You should be dressed properly for practice: It will be getting VERY cold outside, wear layers! I would also recommend wearing a thin pair of gloves! Shin guards and cleats are not mandatory, but are recommended! Bring a SNACK to eat before we begin. Good snack ideas include pretzels, a peanut butter sandwich, fruit, juice, etc. You should also bring bottled water as we do a lot of running! Water will not be provided by the school.
Please keep in mind the district’s activity fee. This will need to be paid by all students participating in 6th grade soccer. Please see the district website on how to pay the activity fee. Coaches will not accept any activity fees! As this is 6th grade soccer, sport’s physicals are not necessary. Students will receive a blue card on the first day of practice where you can write emergency information and contact information. There is no FAMILY ID signups for 6th grade soccer. As long as the activity fee is paid and you bring the attached blue emergency card, students can come to the first practice.
Please get changed in the locker room and leave your things in the locker room while we play. Do not put on your cleats until you’re outside! We’ll meet in the cafeteria at 2:30 pm each day. Let’s have fun! The schedule is attached. Please listen to the announcements for any changes due to inclement weather! Mr. Nefos ** Pick up at the end of practice is at the front of Fugett. You do not have to come to practice every day. If you cannot make it to a practice, we’ll see you at the next one! 6th Grade Soccer Intramurals 2023 Schedule All practices will run from 2:15pm – 4:30pm. Students must be picked up in front of Fugett by 4:30 pm every day. If you cannot be picked up on time do not come to practice that day!
