Principal's Update #14

I hope all of our students and their families have a very Happy February Vacation Week! Please enjoy the week.

On 2/14 & 2/15, NAHS teachers opened up classrooms for other teachers to complete learning walks focused on providing feedback on the diverse needs of our students. We had approximately 20 different teachers host 39 different teachers, counselors and central office staff. Our NAHS staff was able to analyze evidence, share highlights, generate next steps, identify future learning opportunities and reflect on the teaching and learning process. Additionally, we will collaborate about best practices on the 2/28 early release professional development afternoon.

Thank you to everyone that has signed up to support the NAHS staff. We are hosting our NAHS Winter Staff Appreciation at the end of February on 2/28/2024. It is an early afternoon where we will have a coffee/hot chocolate bar with donated baked goods on the early release Wednesday. We are still in need of baked goods and help with setup, serving and clean up shifts. (Shifts are 60-90 minutes). If you can provide either treats or doing a shift, we would be very grateful and so will the teachers and staff. Please select the button below to signup to help.

From 1/22 to 1/27 the Fire Alarm Company with the support of NAFD successfully completed phase one of a multiphase project to replace our existing Fire Panel. They completed replacement and testing in the locker room, gym, wrestling room, dance studio and main office hallway areas. Since 1/28, the new fire panel is connected to our existing panel and both are servicing the building. We have no longer had to have a Fire Watch on duty during the school day. The panel and alarms have been completely active since 1/28. The Facilities department is hopeful that this repair will provide an interim measure that is sustainable until the entire fire alarm replacement project is completed. The next phase of the project is scheduled for the summer break. I will update everyone as we get closer to the end of the school year. Thank you.

The UNICEF CLUB is coordinating a book drive to donate to the Lazarus House. Any books that are legible are okay to donate. Students, please drop off any new or gently used books to a bin outside of room 1026. Thank you!

North Andover Reads is a joint effort of the Stevens Memorial Library and the North Andover Public Schools. Each year, books, programs, exhibits and more are chosen around a particular theme and highlight our R.A.I.S.E. initiative.

The NAPRN is currently planning a presentation on addiction and destructive habits, including vaping, drinking and more. The program is being planned for late February/early March, and will be announced soon!

Our North Andover Special Education Parent Advisory Council created a flyer highlighting the events for February. Please take a look at the flyer and RSVP information.

It is an exciting time at NAHS! The Freshman-Sophomore Semi-Formal, Junior Prom and Senior Prom are around the corner. NAHS Knight's Locker is fully stocked with dresses, dress shirts, suits, shoes and accessories to ensure every student can attend one of these events.
