Naviance Changing to Scoir
We are pleased to announce that our district is introducing a new college and career planning system called Scoir. Our current system, Naviance, will continue to be available to students through June 30th, 2023.
Scoir will assist in the college and career selection and application process, helping students discover post-secondary opportunities that match personal as well as academic interests.
This is an especially important update for the class of 2024 who may be requesting official transcripts and letters of recommendation as they begin the college application process.
We are excited to provide Scoir to our students and families beginning the Fall of 2023. Students will receive an email late August/early September containing directions on accessing Scoir. Have a great summer!

Morgan Stanley Mentors Business Internship Students
On Tuesday, May 2, students in the Business Internship class met with their eMentors from Morgan Stanley located in Minneapolis, Bloomington, and Plymouth. Going into the day, students had never met their mentors but had built a professional relationship through email for six weeks prior to the event. Students spent the morning talking with their mentors about the business world, plans after high school, as well as receiving advice on their cover letters and resumes. At the end of the session, students received a tour of the 53rd floor in the Capella Tower where Morgan Stanley is located. Students were able to go into offices, take in the views, and see what the work environment is like at Morgan Stanley.
Senior Regan Osumo said, “I really enjoyed the experience in connecting with my mentor and learning from him. It was an hour receiving advice and getting feedback from Mr. Sloane who is well established in his field. Ultimately, the cherry on top was going to the Capella Tower and meeting Mr. Sloane and the other Best Prep mentors through Morgan Stanley.”
The Blaine Business Internship program is partnered with Best Prep and their eMentor program. They have been working with mentors from Morgan Stanley for over ten years. Studies show that mentoring, even through email, can have a tremendous impact on the life of a youth both now and in the future. During this eight-week program, eMentors offers students the chance to develop a relationship with one or more adults, other than parents and teachers, who become role models. eMentors can help students increase academic motivation, improve their reading and writing skills, provide pathways to career awareness, gain experience using technology, and promote social competence and self-confidence.
