Preparing for In-Person Learning
Greetings Wolfpack,
After almost 11 months, we are now less than one week away from returning to in-person learning. Teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing their classrooms, spaces, and plans for approximately half of our students to return in-person on February 1st.
- On Friday, I will host two Question & Answer sessions for parents (I'll also give some general information on what returning to school in-person will look like) at 12pm and 6pm - links are below. Submit questions in advance for these sessions.
- I'll also keep sharing general information on our return to in-person learning planning during our Daily Download videos on Facebook Live each day.
- One critically important aspect of our return to in-person is the Daily Decision Tree that families will use each day to determine if their student should attend that day. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with it and you can also hear more about it in the PTSA Video below or on the January 13 Daily Download.
We will continue to share more information with all of you through this week, so stay tuned.
Take care,
Sarah Gillam

- RP = Remote Present: teachers will mark this for students who attend their Google Meet/Zoom class.
- AU = Absence Unexcused: Teachers will mark this when students do not show to their class. A parent can call front office to excuse an absence and code will be changed to AE.
- IP = In Person Present: Once we start in person school this code will be used for students physically present in the classroom.
How do I excuse an absence?
- A parent can call the front office to excuse an absence within 2 school days of that absence.

Securly Home - a Parent Portal
Securly Home is now available to parent guardians. This is a parent portal that allows for better visibility and control over your student’s online activities when using district-issued devices.
Parents were sent an email in December with a link to sign up for this service.
If you are unable to access this email, contact techsupport@k12northstar.org
Features include:
- Live feed of your child’s activity, including websites they’re visiting and search history
- Balance time online by turning internet access on or off
- Enable push notifications and receive alerts for any flagged activity related to signs of bullying, self-harm, and other concerning content
- Weekly email report that includes a snapshot of your child’s online activity
If you would like to use this tool, there is an opt-in link below. We’ve also included other helpful information and a quick tutorial.
