Career Day Highlights
Thank you to our 24 volunteer presenters!
On 11/3/23, students were given an opportunity to hear about 3 different careers. Each session was approximately 10 minutes and covered the following as it applied to the career:

ďż Promotional Opportunities ďż Challenges
Students were also given an opportunity to ask follow up questions and will complete the Career Day Reflection slide during English class which will be included in their portfolio.
Operation Shoebox
What Is Operation Shoebox?
Community members pack shoeboxes filled with small gifts for kids. These shoe boxes are shipped to kids that live all over the world. These boxes are given to kids that may not receive anything for the holidays.
How Do I Participate?
Fill A Box
Pick up a box from the counseling office or find a shoebox at home.
Decide whether you will pack a box for a boy or girl.
Decide what age category you’d like to buy for (2-4, 5-9, 10-14).
Fill your box with gifts (the dollar store is a great place to find small items).
What goes in a box?
Stuffed animal
School supplies (crayons, small notebooks, etc.)
Small toys
Hygiene items (toothbrush, hair ties, headbands, comb)
Personal note
Return your box to the counseling office by Thursday, November 16th!
Our goal is to collect 100 boxes this year!
On December 19th we are hosting the inaugural Viking Film Awards to celebrate students in the Fall Video Production class. Throughout the semester students have learned about film production and have used what they learned to create some great films. For each category, we will screen/view the films selected as finalists and announce the winner. Some of the categories will include Best Actualité, Best Parallel Action Film, Best Camera Movement Film, Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Film, and more.

There will be NO SCHOOL for students on the following dates below:
- Friday, November 10th
- Thanksgiving Break 11/20 - 11/24
- Winter Break 12/21 - 1/9 (School resumes for students 1/10/24)
Tuesday - Late Start Reminder: School Starts at 9:05 AM
On Tuesdays - Late start days, school starts at 9:05 AM. Students dropped off before 8:30 AM will need to report to the MPR/Cafeteria. Breakfast will be available to students as usual and students will also be able to study, work on assignments, and socialize with friends. Dismissal from the MPR/Cafeteria will be at 8:30 AM.

ATTENDANCE is IMPORTANT
Good attendance equals improved school performance. Please call the office if your child is absent to avoid a truancy. (Absences that are not cleared within 5 days automatically turn to a truant.) Valley Views 24 Hour Attendance Line is 805-520-6820 option 2 or ext. 1320. Please avoid tardies for your child. It is very important to be at school on time as it enables classroom learning to be more effective.
