Welcome Back!
Dear Families,
Thank you for a wonderful first week! Our teachers and students focused much of their time building community and establishing routines and procedures. As a staff, we are committed to ensuring a successful start to the 2023-2024 school year.
Thank you for your patience during morning/afternoon drop off and pick up. We recognize navigating the parking system can be challenging. A gentle reminder, the bus bay area is a drive-through and drop-off only. Please remain in your vehicle while you wait for your student. This helps to ensure the flow of traffic runs smoothly. If you choose to park your vehicle, family parking is available on the south end of the school. Overflow parking is also available on the northwest side of the school. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
Please mark your calendar for our Open House event on Tuesday, August 15th from 5:30-7:00pm. Teachers will greet all families in their classrooms beginning at 5:30pm. Upon arrival, please enter through the front office doors and go directly to your child's classroom. If you have more than one student enrolled, families will have until 6:30pm to visit the various classrooms. Beginning promptly at 6:30pm, we ask that all families and teachers join me in the cafeteria for a school-wide presentation.
I thank you for your on-going commitment to our school community. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions and/or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Marisela Campillo
Principal
Extended Day After School Program
I'm excited to share our extended day program got off to a great start this week. If you would like to sign up/pay for our after school program, please stop by the office. Our office hours are 8:00am-4:00pm. Please note, we do not offer extended day program on Wednesdays due to staff development training for staff.
Extended day hours run from 2:45pm-4:45pm. Please ensure your child is picked up before 5:00pm each day. Pick-up for extended day is located at the back entrance (west side) of the cafeteria beginning at 4:00pm. If you plan to pick up your child prior to 4:00pm, please enter through the front office door.
Message From Our Incredible Garden Teacher
Hi Davis families! My name is Carmen and I am the garden teacher. I am so excited for all the fun garden projects and lessons we will be doing this year. I wanted to inform you all of two important things: first, we will be having a garden work day on August 19th and you are all invited! We will be at the garden cleaning, weeding, doing repairs on the chicken coop and eating Sr. Barceló's famous burritos from 7-11AM that day. 🙂 Second, I wanted to inform you that someone broke the lock on our garden shed recently and some tools were taken from the garden, including our wheelbarrows. Some of our grow lights were also damaged over the summer. If you feel moved to donate to our garden program, here is my wishlist for what we need for this year: two wheelbarrows, shovels, hoes, rakes, watering cans, three indoor grow lights with stands for the classrooms, four ollas for the olla garden, a couple rolls of 1/4" poly dripline with emitters, a spading fork to loosen the soil, and a stirrup hoe for weeding.
Thank you!

Tax Credit Donation
Now through April 15th, 2024, you can take advantage of the Arizona Public School Tax Credit to pay the income tax you owe directly to Davis Bilingual Magnet. In the state of Arizona, you get your tax credit contribution back subject to the limits of your tax liability.
What should I mark when I make my donation online?
We are especially grateful for donations marked “Undesignated,” as that allows us to put your donation towards a specialist position on our campus (P.E., Garden, Art, etc). Thank you for supporting us as we raise funds to keep these important positions.
What if I already made a payment for Extended Day?
Many of you made a payment for Extended Day. Kindly note that you may be able to take advantage of the federal Child and Dependent Care Credit, as Extended Day supports parents who pay for childcare so that they may work outside of the home. Please consult your tax professional for more details. This may allow you to make an additional contribution to Davis (in addition to Extended Day) and claim the Arizona tax credit, for up to $400, per the information above.
