March has been crazy busy here at Goodness Grows! We made our yearly trek to Hartville for plant starts for our upcoming flower sale. Dustin & Keegan were very impressed by that massive greenhouse and all they do there. We have been planting seeds to get veggies started for the CSA. Hanging basket creation has begun. Time has been spent planning meals and shopping as well as in the kitchen making meals, making jam, and learning to bake Communion bread. We have cleaned, helped set up for Common Ground events, and spent time having fun both inside and outside. It has been a full month, but now we are looking forward to April and all that it will hold!

We were so excited to welcome back the Transition Class from Salem this month. In April, our friends from Crestview will also rejoin us. It is one of our most favorite times of the year, since we get to work with so many phenomenal students and staff members! Transition's first day back involved working on hanging baskets, spending time in the kitchen baking with our friend Barb, and more. Over the years we have found that, no matter what we ask them to do, these students always step up and do a great job.

This year you will have four days to come see us and check out all we have to offer! Right now, there are 165 hanging baskets in our greenhouse. Some have been planted already but we still have many more to go. We hope to see YOU in the greenhouse in May, just in time for Mother's Day!

Now is the time to join a CSA! At Goodness Grows, you will get 14 weeks of fresh, naturally raised vegetables, fruits, and more. Our pick-up day is Thursday, between 4-7pm, starting on June 28 and running through September 27.

Our staff and clients have started planting the seeds that will become your vegetables! Our focus is on leaf lettuce, micro greens, onions, tomatoes, peppers (hot and mild), potatoes, corn, cucumbers, and a variety of herbs. Other goodies we will be growing include zucchini, squash, peas, green beans, strawberries, and flowers. Subscriptions will also contain value added items such as jam, salsa, and pesto when available. End of season may include corn stalks and pumpkins. Locally sourced, ecologically grown vegetables and fruit may be included to increase food diversity.

The price is $20 per week, which can be paid once by May 18 at $250, or in three payments of $95 by May 18, July 6, and Sept. 1. A mini share for 1 person, may be ordered at $12 per week - $150 if paid by May 18. Contact us by April 30 to reserve your subscription.

Grown, picked, packed, displayed, and marketed, in part by area students. These are adults and young adults with developmental disabilities AND with abilities to develop via market farming work here. Your subscription helps fund Goodness Grows' education and training programs while helping us to donate 10% of the harvest to local families in need. Thank you!
