Chapter 1 and 2
In our first session we will discuss the problems associated with the gap between reading research and classroom practice. As we work to scale up Ohio's Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement we find many continue to teach reading based on tradition and intuition rather than using the methods that a large body of research identifies as the most effective. The most important part of our discussion will be to determine ways we can help our schools understand the research and its practical application in the classroom.
To enhance your learning experience, you are welcome to view the webinar series with Dr. Kilpatrick hosted by the Colorado Department of Education. The focus of our first session will be, Modules 0, 1, and 2
