Cougar Families,
Happy Halloween!! We hope everyone enjoyed the Fall Break and are ready to work hard the rest of this fall semester.
Parents, we need some support from home for reminding students about making good choices in a few key areas while at school. We are meeting with students this week through Tracks classes about consistent things we are seeing that is impacting our school in a negative way. A few key items you can talk with students about are their choice of words, keeping to themselves physically and addressing adults appropriately. Our expectations are that students are using appropriate language during the school day in all areas of the building. We are also seeing students playing around physically with their friends causing issues in the halls and other places in the building such as bumping into other students and clogging up the hallways. Everyone needs to be aware of their surroundings and their space. We expect students should be keeping their hands, feet, etc. to themselves for the safety of everyone. Lastly, we expect our students to address adults with respect and avoid calling them things like “bro” and “dude”. We realize this is a trend for kids and our teachers have built relationships with their students, however, addressing adults this way is not in their best interest as they head into high school and into potential jobs. We appreciate your support at home talking to your students and reminding them of these expectations as we will be reminding them here as well.
Just a reminder that our school buses leave campus at 3:40. We have had lots of students trying to get food from the vending machine or hang out with friends and missing their bus. Once the buses start moving at 3:40 they will not stop for students who run out late. Also, students staying after school for tutoring need to go directly to tutoring after 8th period. Students should not leave the building to hang out with friends and then expect to get back in for tutoring. Once students leave the building, they need to be headed home.
