SPEHS Parent/Caregiver Sunday Call

Greetings SPEHS scholars and parents/caregivers! Next week is an extremely busy week for SPEHS scholars and families. First, SPEHS is hosting College Goal Wisconin on Wednesday, January 10th at 6 pm. This event is held at SPEHS LMC where seniors can receive assistance with completing their FAFSA. Secondly, SPEHS Course Expo is on Thursday, January 11th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. All 9th, 10th and 11th grade scholars are invited to attend and learn more about the course being offered next year along with AP (Advanced Placement) classes. Also there will be some clubs in the cafeteria and our counseling team will be availabe to answer questions. .

Even with these event, Friday, January 12th is the last day for summative assessments. There is still an opportunity this week to sign up for additional assistance during WIN time and 5th hour is also available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Just a friendly reminder that the end of the semester is on January 19th. Any questions you have about grades and class assignment, please reach out to your scholar's teacher.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the main office and our admin assistants will be able to direct you to the correct admin.

A representative from Madison College will be visiting on the following dates in Student Services from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

In addition, a representative from Winona State University will be here on Monday, March 11th, during 4th block. If interested in meeting with the representative, please pick up a pass in

Student Services.

The local scholarship application is now open. All seniors are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is February 28th. The link can be found on our website.

There is free help completing your FAFSA for anyone who is plannng on attendign college for the 2024 - 2025 school year. This free session will be held on Wednesday, January 10th at 6 pm in SPEHS - LMC.

Are you missing a jacket, a water bottle, gloves, mittens, etc.? Please check with the front office if you have a lost item you are seeking. Items will be donated if not picked up by January 19th.

Join us for Mindfulness and Meditation. Mindfulness and meditation are great tools to use when feeling stressed/anxious/overwhelmed. It leads to overall well-being, increased motivation, and relaxation. Mindfulness and meditation have been proven to help reduce anxiety and regulate emotions. Come learn more about these skills and their positive benefits. We will meet in Student Services January 9th, 11th, 16th and 18th during WIN Time. After-school tutoring, called 5th Hour, runs every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the LMC after school from 3:50-4:40 p.m. An after-school activity bus will be available at 4:45 pm out door 16 and is available for those that have a bus tag. Please feel free to join if you are looking for a quiet place to study or assistance with any academics.
