First Annual Safety Day
As part of our district-wide effort to improve safety throughout the district, we are hosting our first annual Safety Day. Friday, September 15th will have a focus on safety throughout the district. Each school will run a variety of safety drills to roll out our new safety protocols as well as work on safety topics at age appropriate levels.
This year, Salt Creek District 48 has adopted a new emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. Click on this link to download the parent handout. This protocol has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County and all over the country. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on this protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe and prepared.
Continue on to see the specifics for each building.
Salt Creek Primary
At Salt Creek Primary, we follow our three B's: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe! Tomorrow's Safety Day is going to be a great day for us to practice being safe. We will be conducting each of our drills so we are ready and prepared for any situation. We will complete each Standard Response Protocol Drill (HOLD, SECURE, LOCKDOWN, EVACUATE and SHELTER) as well as discuss Bus Safety and a Bus Evacuation drill.
And because of our prize drop today, we will be doing it all in our Pajamas! We will have fun while learning how to stay safe at school.
Stella May Swartz
As part of our Safety Day on Friday, 9/15, Swartz students are reminded to follow the 3 B's (Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible). The following safety drills will be practiced: SHELTER (weather), SECURE, LOCKDOWN, EVACUATE (bus and fire), and HOLD; using the Standard Response Protocol.
