This month's newsletter is all about Google Apps for Education. Once we get the basics down for teacher use, it's time to challenge students to create content. I regularly use Twitter to get new ideas from colleagues. There are a few hashtags that I search, which are used by educators to share lesson ideas:

Below is a Tweet that I saw posted by an Edtech TOSA in Fullerton. She shared a Google Slide presentation that includes suggestions for a variety of student projects. I attached the link to the presentation so that you can see some of those examples.

There will be Google Classroom training coming up in the next month or two, so start thinking of some assignments that students can submit digitally. Reach out to some of your colleagues about integrating Google and they can show you how they use the tools in their classrooms: Mr. Lewis, Ms. Morales, Ms. Pineda, Ms. Rivera, Mrs. Rizo, Mr. Weller, and Mrs. Yoo-Brannon.

Last week in my ERWC class, I taught a lesson about the difference between revising and editing because students were struggling to differentiate between making their essay "sound better" versus "look better." After we reviewed revision techniques (fixing dead words/confusing words, combining sentences, and deleting redundancies) students used Google Docs to show me their revisions. Students turned on "Suggesting" mode, which allows me to see their original text AND their revisions.

There are so many possibilities within Google Docs to challenge students during the writing process. Collaboration and sharing capabilities make feedback and communication seamless.
