Bonham Lady Warrior Athletics
March 27, 2023
Athletic Director Notes:
The First 30 Days
It's hard to believe it's already been a month in this new position! So far it has been very fulfilling. I've had the opportunity to attend several softball games, tennis tournaments, soccer games, powerlifting meets, and track meets. I've learned a tremendous amount from the various trainings I've attended and I am very thankful for the support system we have in place here at BISD. After a full staff meeting with all girls' coaches, I am now in the process of completing our individual meetings. Coach Ramsey and I have collaborated on a few things, and I look forward to more conversations with him in the coming weeks and months.
GO LADY WARRIORS!
BHS Girls Powerlifters Compete at Regionals - Gonzalez advances to State!
Great job by our Lady Warrior lifters!
BHS senior Naomi Gonzalez qualified for the State Powerlifting Meet. She represented BHS with pride at the meet held in Frisco on March 16th. Naomi was one of 8 Lady Warriors who qualified for the regional meet held in Bells. We are so very proud of the season our ladies had and especially their strong showing in the post-season. This year's qualifiers are: Naomi Gonzalez, Xitlali Padilla, Sahara Gorden, Lorelei Roberts, Gabriella White, Fatima Soto, Morgan Smithey, and Sabrina LaRue.

Our tennis courts have been very busy of late, with 2 tournaments in the books and one more scheduled after the break. Softball gets off to a hot start!
Coach Englutt and his staff worked very hard to host the Bonham/Bells (82) tournament on March 3-4. Our Lady Warriors defended their home turf, posting a perfect 5-0 record in the tournament. After a hot start in pre-district play, our ladies kicked off district play on March 6 with a tough 6-4 loss to Gunter. They quickly responded in a big way with back to back victories against Howe (15-0) and Pottsboro (5-2).
The grit and hustle displayed by our Lady Warriors is a sight to see. The pitching from Reyleigh Shockley and Madison Wrape combined with a strong offensive lineup have our ladies moving in the right direction as they continue district play.
Track & Field Season kicks off for High School and Jr. High
Over 160 Bonham athletes (HS and JH) start the track season!
On Feb. 28, we hosted our Jr. High Time Trials at Warrior Stadium to give our young athletes a chance to experience the logistics and procedures of a track meet before actually going on the road for the real thing.
