DOLPHIN SPLASH
Volume 10: October 17 - 21, 2022
A Message from our principal, Ms. Saavedra
Thank you for the warm welcome into the El Marino community. I have been impressed by the great number of families and staff members that have come together in support of our students, making special things happen at El Marino! I know that this year is going to be a wonderful one filled with fun experiences for our students, families and staff, and positive community building throughout the year. I look forward to meeting more of our families at Coffee with the Principal, our Halloween Costume Parade, our W.A.V.E. Rider assemblies, the Fall Festival, and every other fabulous event planned for this year.
Thank you to our families and staff for all you do to support El Marino. You are appreciated more than words can express!
Sincerely,
Paula Saavedra

ALLEM FALL 2022 PLEDGE DRIVE -- THAT'S A WRAP!
Allem's Pledge Drive wrapped up on Friday, October 14, and the results knocked our socks off--thanks to you, we raised $210,711! Thank you so much to all who donated--you made our Pledge Drive a success! Over the next week we will be tabulating the results and in next week's Dolphin Splash, we will announce the winners of the special prizes for the class with the highest fundraising amount, the top three participation classrooms and the most improved classroom with the highest increase in participation from September 30 to October 14.
Even though our Pledge Drive has concluded, it is not too late to donate to ALLEM. Please donate at https://allem.givecloud.co/. While the suggested donation amount is $750 per student, ANY meaningful amount you can give makes an impact for our classrooms.
Thank you so much for supporting ALLEM and our Target Language Support Providers!
october is disability awareness month
In honor of Disability Awareness month this October, El Marino PTA Special Education Committee is organizing a read-aloud of books on disability during the last two weeks of October.
We are recruiting parent volunteers who can read a selected book on disability for the first 5 minutes of the weekly library time for each class.
Please review the available slots from the link below:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e44aaa82ca2f8c16-emlibrary
Each classroom has one library time per week, so each class has a total of two slots available. If you sign up, please contact your teacher to confirm the date and time you are arriving. On the date of your read-aloud, bring your volunteer badge, sign in at the front office and walk to the school library to await the class.
Volunteer clearance is required.
Questions? Contact chisato.komatsu@elmarinopta.org. Thank you!
