Senior Interviews

If you are interested in interviewing our amazing students, between October 16-20, and helping make this Graduation Requirement a smooth and successful process for each student, please reach out to Tara Hall, our Career Development Facilitator at 248-693-5420 x6068, or you may sign up using Signup Genius
Attendance Blurb
Good attendance is important because studies have shown that students are more likely to succeed in academics and personal relationships when they attend school consistently. It’s difficult for the teacher to build a student’s skills and progress if they are absent even a few days. Studies of students from kindergarten through high school have found that dropout patterns were linked with poor attendance, that often began in elementary school. In addition, building positive relationships with classmates and teachers is significantly impacted by attendance. Bottom line…..good attendance makes everything better for relationships and learning!
Thank you for your support.
Tardies
Please note, we have started giving Tardy passes to students who are arriving late to school and/or classes. Detentions will begin this week on Wednesday mornings starting at 7:30 a.m. Students should look at their tardy slips for the detention time to be served based on number or tardies as outlined in the Student Handbook
CONSEQUENCES FOR TARDIES:
Missed/skipped consequences will result in additional consequences.
Tardies 1-4 = Warning, parent/guardian notification
Tardy 5-6 = 60 minute detention, parent/guardian notification
Tardy 7 or more = 2 hour detention with parent/guardian contact and student meeting with administrator
Additional tardies could result in consequences that could include but not limited to: additional detentions, parking privileges suspended, In School Suspensions (ISS), or Out of School Suspensions (OSS).

LOAM IS COMING THIS WEEK
Lake Orion High School's live newscast LO-AM returns for year 33 on Tuesday, September 26!
Free Breakfast and Lunch
This year, each student will be able to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch per school day.
What makes a breakfast free?
- Students must take a fruit or juice with their breakfast entrée for the meal to qualify as a complete meal and be FREE.
What makes a lunch free?
- To qualify for a FREE meal, students must take a fruit or vegetable (they may take both) with their lunch entrée; a milk is not required to make a complete meal.
- Juice and milk are NOT FREE, unless the complete meal is taken.
- An entrée without the required fruit or vegetable is NOT FREE
- At the Middle Schools and High School, students are allowed to purchase a second entrée, or items from the snack bars if they have money in their accounts to purchase those items.
Students will have to enter their student ID Number into the keypad so we can track that each student is only getting one free breakfast and one free lunch per day. Please note, we are not charging them for the meal unless they chose a la carte items; which are not included in the free meals. A la carte items are snack foods such as chips, bottles of water, cookies, fruit snacks, etc. Students can't make free meals out of snacks.
Please be sure, if you received free and reduced services in the past, it is important to continue to fill out this application as this will assist with additional expenses.
Be sure to apply for Free and Reduced Benefits online at the lakeorion.familyportal.cloud. Eligibility for other programs (including P-EBT) are based on Free and Reduced status but you MUST complete a “Sharing Permissions” form for the information to be shared with specified program. You must apply for the Free/Reduced benefit every school year. Complete one application per household. You will be notified by email if you qualify.
If you qualified for a free or reduced-price meal last year, we will use last year’s eligibility for the first 30 operating days.
Solicitud de las Comidas Escolares Gratis oa Precio Reducido (Free or Reduced Price Lunch Application in Spanish).
Please Note: We highly encourage all families to fill out this form. Many of the supplemental grants and federal aid our school district receives are based on the total approved free and reduced meal applications. These funds enhance the educational opportunities of our students.
Food Deliveries
Students who choose to DoorDash, GrubHub or have food deliveries to the high school may NOT retrieve their order until their scheduled lunch period on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday as to not disrupt their class environment.
Wednesdays we will not allow food deliveries to the building during the school day. Students coming from OSTC MUST PLAN ACCORDINGLY, especially on Homeroom days.
Please note, all students receive a free breakfast and lunch through food services. On Wednesdays breakfast is served and the snack bar and school store are both open.
Whenever children are brought into group settings, there is a chance for diseases to spread. Children must follow the Michigan state vaccine laws to attend school. For more information about vaccines and waivers, please visit LOCS Central enrollment, or contact Mrs. Patricia Humes, the attendance secretary.

School Election Information - Milage
Lake Orion Community Schools will have two milage proposals on the February/March presidential primary ballot, each designed to maintain the current tax levies. One will be for the 10-year operational millage, which the state of Michigan requires every public school district to pass to receive full foundation allowance for each student. The second proposal is to replace the 10-year sinking fund, which pays for infrastructure repairs (parking lots, HVAC, computers, etc.) throughout the district. Information about the millage proposals, including Frequently Asked Questions, is located on the School Election Information page.
